I have to admit to being thoroughly jaded regarding online suicides. Myself and a bunch of close friends on EQ were subjected to a very sick hoax by someone who later turned out to have obvious psychological issues. There was no warning, I would have happily vouched for the guy involved right up to the start of the events concerned. Over the years in EQ, FFXI, and WoW I've encountered similar hoaxes and little by little become hardened to the point where I'm very cynical whenever someone starts playing the bleeding heart card. As a defense mechanism I essentially offer some token words of comfort then steer the conversation back to the game at hand. End of the day, we all have our problems and emotional traumas and I'm neither qualified or willing to invest my time in complete strangers in an artificial environment.

That said Aksannyi, I don't enjoy seeing people upset unduly and I sympathise with the sadness you're so obviously feeling.

I decided to close this topic based upon the many discussions that have occurred in here. Some were relevant, some were flaming.
