Yeah ... I have two accounts so I loaded up the alt one (which sits on my shit laptop that doesn't even have a working USB port for a mouse) and logged into a low pop server, even that took me 90 minutes to access but at least I can play. Currently leveling a Night Elf Priest because that account doesn't have Warlords and probably won't for a while.

687th in the queue on my main account. I think possibly I will get to play by 3AM, it's 1:15 now.

Tomorrow if this queue shit persists, I'll probably play Hearthstone. Or ... actually do my homework /shudder.

Fact of the matter is that police aren't held even half as accountable as they should be. There's a statement being attributed to the family of the (long-since) deceased that law enforcement needs legally-mandated body cameras when on-duty, and I'd agree with that regardless of its origin.

(Said statement also said that any unrestful energy needs to be focused through peaceful means, but unfortunately . . .)

I'm not disputing that. I'm saying that going "well if he's not guilty then he shouldn't mind going to trial" is the same line of thinking that gets us policies that presume guilt until innocence is proven and when you're done being emotional about this and are able to think in terms of cold calculating analysis, you'll see how that's actually a terrible idea.

Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch said the jury of nine whites and three blacks met on 25 separate days over three months, hearing more than 70 hours of testimony from about 60 witnesses, including three medical examiners and experts on blood, toxicology and firearms.

The jury decided there wasn't enough evidence to charge Wilson with a crime. They didn't decide that black lives don't matter. They didn't decide anything else.

I don't like the actions of the Ferguson police department at all, they have done absolutely everything they can to escalate the situation and make a bad thing worse.

That said, the actual evidence here (which unfortunately needed be suppressed until now) really doesn't present any possibility of conviction. This is the entire reason we have the grand jury system; it's supposed to keep the state from moving forward with trials that have no factual basis, keeping people in prison and in courts, ruining their livelihood, when they're clearly not guilty. And honestly, even then, they're mostly rubber stamps; most of the time a grand jury says no, it's because the prosecutor didn't want to sue, but needed to bring it in for political reasons. Only in very rare cases, where the prosecution absolutely screwed up, does a grand jury say no to the prosecutor when he wants them to say yes.


The flip side of the (petit) jury system that keeps innocent men from being convicted are requirements that keep cases without real evidence from making it to the jury in the first place. The grand jury is one of those; there are many other procedures that do the same thing. Mob rule is not the goal here.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I still got an A in the class, but I'm really annoyed about the fact that I was graded on some elements that I need to have taken another class to know. I am supposed to be putting ESOL modifications into my lessons when I haven't taken ESOL yet, and the ESOL class is not a prerequisite for the class I took. Like nowhere in the course catalog does it say or even recommend taking that class before (or even concurrently with) this one, so how the fuck is it even remotely fair to grade me based on shit that I could only have known after taking that class?

And before I upload this critical assignment into the online portfolio thing that they force us to do, I have to fix this. Excuse me, but how the fuck am I supposed to fix this when I don't know how? I'm so frustrated.

I'm going to call the College of Ed tomorrow and figure out how I can file a complaint about this, I mean it's not the points on the assignments (though that does annoy me) but it's the principle, if they want you to add ESOL modifications to critical assignments in classes then they should probably make that a prerequisite to take those classes. This never should have happened this way.
