Yes, but I'm saying the tone people use with the two issues is eerily similar in a way that troubles me deeply.

One is a problem that deserves righteous fervor.

      The other is video games.

Bit the bullet and just bought Microsoft Word instead of using Open Office. I've been going back on forth with some classmates in an internet course I was taking and got tired of all of my formatting somehow not transitioning well to their computers. I also suspect, whenever I sent my resume to possible employers, it looks like ass when they try to open it.

Or you could get Libre office suite which is just as good and free (open source).

Most jobs I would apply for invariably demand proficiency with Microsoft office utilities. I've decided it's just not worth the risk when employment is at stake. When I used Open Office, I've mailed my own resume to myself just to see how it looks when others open it and icons and bullets suddenly became question marks.

Or I sent my contribution to school projects to the group and they'd ask me why I formatted something a certain way. I had to explain that I didn't.

Way round that with open office is to have cutepdf installed and print as a pdf, therefore it keep the correct bullets, how i did mine and got offered the job to. With resumes you need to have an introduction paragraph that sells you as they will only spend 10 seconds if that on each cv to look at so you need something to catch their eye. My one I worked on with my ex (she is an english teacher) known as a personal statement was as follows....

"A hard working, self-motivated architectural professional with extensive 'hands on' experience in all aspects of a
construction project from initial concept to running the project on site. Skilled in technical detailing in a variety of
construction methods and sectors with the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Experienced
in complex projects, challenging scenarios and tight deadlines and has full knowledge of current building
regulations and planning procedures, with a strong background in contract administration."

I know US and Uk have differences but your cv is basically your shop window for them to glance through and you want all the best relevant information there in front of them on the first page.

Do you talk like you type? I feel like that would be a huge surprise for your potential employers.

Fukken anxiety. It's been relentless lately.

I realized my first mistake was trying to wean off of Xanax too quickly, so I upped the dose a bit and plan to stay there for a few weeks before doing a slow taper. BUT. Even after upping my dose, I'm still feeling anxious. Anxious enough for me to take more Xanax, which is not good. It's the opposite of what I'm attempting to do.

I think the real problem here is that I quit Lexapro at the end of December. It's always been something I was taking while weaning off of Xanax in the past. The reason I quit is because I wasn't sure what it was doing for me, and I wanted to know how I'd feel if I weren't taking it. Well, now I think I've figured it out. It was a base layer of calm. It was a safety net for anxiety. If it didn't calm me enough, there was always Xanax, but when I no longer needed it I had Lexapro there to cushion the fall.

I think I need it again.

Well, Dak, one thing I know about anti-depressants is that it typically takes two or three weeks to start seeing effects, so go back to what was working and stay there for awhile before you freak out.

Seriously though, the only time Open Office fucks up with editing is if you did something stupid like saved it as a .ODF first then saved it as a Word Document afterwards. That will cause the formatting issues because you are basically converting the file while attempting to keep the same formatting. The exact same thing happens in Microsoft Office if you try to change formats halfway through as well and nothing like that happens with Open Office or Microsoft office if you remember how basic file formatting works.

I do something similar with CVs. Another option is to just simply print it off and scan it as a PDF, then pop it into an email and send it. PDF format documents do look really nice when printed though and you can do a lot to edit them and make them really stand out and look like a very professional job with a good PDF Editor. Add in a but of colour (don't go crazy, but it looks a lot more professional with the slight touch of colour for say headings for example, plus it helps things stand out) good printer and good quality paper, it all adds up in the end to impress a potential future employer.

One of my especially needy friends is at it again. He says "It's happening again." I doubt anybody'll find out what "it" is without messaging him and engaging in a lengthy, intimate conversation though. I should pray people will ignore him and just left him fume in isolation.

That's a good chunk of most of the people I know as well. I find it entertaining.
