Bout time they realised that bullying was not "conditioning and character building" it actually does affect you in later life with negative aspects on relationships, confidence etc.

Actually my coworker said a few weeks ago that bullying is not a reason people commit suicide. I wanted to throttle her. As someone who thought about suicide as a kid directly as a result of long term bullying, I can confirm that yes, bullying is a primary example of a reason people commit suicide.

However, the problem is that now bullying has become a buzzword and everyone thinks they're being bullied for everything. The thing that makes it bullying and not just teasing is that it's persistent and spread over a long period of time. If you get teased once because you trip over your feet, that's not bullying. It's rude and insensitive, but kids do need to learn to put up with minor shit like that. It's when you have a bunch of people begin to gang up on you and repeatedly give you shit and make your life so miserable that you dread coming to school (or whatever) that you can begin to classify it as bullying.

Of course there's a fine line. But kids are going to tease other kids. And little Jimmy's mom needs to stop labeling a one-time tease as bullying because there are people who are seriously being bullied that are not getting the attention they need to heal.

And yeah, 20 years later and it still makes me question my worth as a human being. That's some powerful shit.

I have to work from 4pm til' midnight on Sunday, and the same on Monday due to computer / OS upgrades at work that they're making me do. Yeah, not like I wanted to go have an awesome Easter dinner with my family or anything.

Code with long functions.

Especially when the function in question is 42 pages long. With 5+ level deep nested IF statements. And GOTO's everywhere.

No. No one in a software company would code like that, I would hope.

(I work for a hardware company; the "engineers" like to write code that like, then tell us programmers how we're doing it wrong by splitting their mother-of-all-ugly code into little functions with meaningful names because it's "too hard" to follow those functions for the details.)

I was just making a joke about SE's "spaghetti" code that we used to laugh about after they broke something entirely unrelated with every update. Maybe that was more of a thing over on BG than here though.
