The saga continues:

So I had the flat tire Thursday. Got the tire changed to the donut and took it to the shop in the hopes of having the flat repaired, since it appeared to be a puncture. I asked about the tires and potential cost, and they told me that the tires I would need would not be in stock but if the wound was not able to be repaired, they could easily get two tires by end of business Friday. They were about to close so they gave me a loaner car and sent me along and I figured I would pick the truck up yesterday. Okay, sounds good. Right?

They call me around 1PM Friday, tell me the tire was not able to be patched, give me the quote for new tires. They tell me that they don't have the tires for my truck in stock. I knew this already. "Oh, we won't have them today, it won't be until tomorrow."

Well if you hadn't waited until the day was halfway over to look at my tire and determine that it couldn't be fixed, you would have been able to get the fucking tires by the end of the day, wouldn't you?

Fast forward to today, I'm still waiting to get my fucking truck back. Keep in mind, this is for them to mount and balance two tires. I used to work in a dealership, this shouldn't be taking all fucking day. I called them around noon to find out what the status is. "Let me go check and I'll call you right back."

It's 2:15. They close at 4. I swear to every fucking deity in existence that if I do not get my truck back today, I am going to raise holy hell for being without my vehicle all weekend since they are closed tomorrow, and I'll be damned if I'm going to drive this loaner car any more than necessary, lest I have to spend more money out of my pocket to put gas in a car I don't even own.

IT IS TWO FUCKING TIRES. I DON'T GET WHAT THE HOLDUP IS.

What I do know is that next time, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Do you live in a small town or drive an exotic/museum-ancient vehicle which is hard to find parts for? Or just have especially incompetent people working in the car shops?

Big city, Chevrolet, so no and no.

It was basically people failing at customer service, big time. I raised a stink and told them I needed my truck back today, and I got it done.

I do hate turning into full-on bitch mode, but it works. :/

Unless you ticked them off and they sabotage your car. (I've seen video of car mechanics taking out air filters to put dirt on them, and I know they know how to do far worse and create damage that can cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.)

I think about the only safe thing to do with bad car shops is to bad mouth them on Yelp--after you get your car safely away from them.

Well it was the Chevrolet dealership. I used to work at one a long time ago, and I remember that no matter how badly people pissed us off and bitched us out, we wouldn't ever intentionally fuck up their car, then they're only going to bring it back and we'd have to deal with their bitch-asses again. (It's those types that are seemingly oblivious to the fact that no one wants them around.)

I really think there was a huge communication breakdown here. Both the service writer and the tech who were working with me on Thursday/Friday were off on Saturday, and didn't think to inform anyone that I would be expecting my truck on Saturday. If I hadn't called to check up on it, it'd still be sitting there on a lift with two tires that I could have honestly changed out myself.

I will give them one more chance. I like the convenience they offer with their rental car service (plus it's free), and there is truly nothing I hate more than being dependent on others to get me from A to B, and let's not even talk about the mass transit options around here.

And I wasn't even really as bitchy as I could have been. I was more "firm" than "total bitchmode." I stated that I was extremely frustrated because of when I was told my vehicle would be ready and what they were trying to tell me about my vehicle's status. I told them that I know it doesn't take 48 hours to mount and balance two tires. And I gave them a firm deadline.

In the end, I got my truck back and they even knocked about 10% off the cost.

Chevy dealer which can't replace two tires for a Chevy truck in two days. Like, it only stocks tires for Toyota and BMW, or what?

You sure they need another chance? Maybe you should ask them to give you the inventory management job there; tell them what happened to you will never happen to another customer. At least, not one driving any Chevy made in the last 15 years.

I understand your frustration, but they gave you a fucking loaner car for having a flat tire. That is above and beyond, no one does that shit. At least you had transportation...

Pretty standard for dealerships around here honestly. It's basically like, "test drive this while your old car is being fixed up and see if it entices you to buy a brand new car even though you weren't really in the market for one before." Also, it wasn't free. It wasn't expensive, but it wasn't free.

I'm inclined to give them another chance because I have had overall good business from them in the past. One fuck up does not sever a relationship.

Yeah it wasn't much, $10/day, plus gas usage (so I drove it as little as possible).

Can I just go back to bitching about work now? lol I have my truck back, I'm a few hundred poorer and all is ... somewhat right with the world.
