These computers at work are terrible. It's 9:12. I got here at 8:56. It just got done booting at 9:09, then took an extra 2 minutes just to open the internet.

More unrelated:
I hate coming in to work on Mondays, mostly because I've spent my weekend pretty much quietly and by myself, with the exception of the time spent with my boyfriend, who is someone I choose to spend time with, someone I enjoy spending time with. Returning to work is forced social interaction, and there are some days when I just don't want social interaction. Driving in today, I was dreading all the innocuous small talk I'm going to have to endure, and listening to my one coworker bitch about her boyfriend (who didn't propose on Friday, in news no one is all that fucking surprised about) and the other one bitch about how half of the stations are closed because it's President's Day. And I just want to sit here quietly in a soundproof box and tune it all out. :/

iPod and a headset works wonders. Even if you aren't alout to keep them on all day, you have breaks throughout the day which are mandatory for you to take. I'm a manager in California so I know or laws not sure of FLorida, but i guarantee the state has work mandates stating how many 10-15 minute breaks works MUST take throughout the day. If you dont already take them, find out how long and how often they are, plug in your headphones and detach yourself from the fucktards around you.

I don't get specific breaks where I walk out for 15 minutes or whatever. I will get up as necessary to use the restroom/get water/hit up the vending machine, and I take my 30 minute lunch.

I've done the headphone thing from time to time, but we do have to communicate (bugger) so it's easier to keep them off. People just exhaust me and drain me. Extroverts don't get this at all. The weekend just isn't enough time to recharge for more forced socialization.

I realize that as a future teacher I'm going to have to get over this somewhat, but I get along really well with younger people in general. They have their own dramas, sure, but I'll be actively encouraged not to socialize with them. To me, talking about S's boyfriend drama and C's kitten drama and DT's husband drama and DC's baby drama is just ... ick. And then they also get nosy and want to know about my drama/lack thereof, and I just want to keep my private relationship private because that's something that we share and the whole world doesn't need to share that with us and certainly not my coworkers who I get on with well enough but that I wouldn't necessarily say that I like.

I'm very ranty today. Sorry.

Didn't actually swear or name drop, but SE doesn't care - gotta silence that dissent, even when it's constructive (i.e. asking how to deal with trouble makers who just wanna ruin other people's enjoyment of the game, which apparently is perfectly fine. but complaining about it? nope, ban.)

Maybe not. But they do have to cover themselves I guess. It would be like if a client accused a staff of raping her. They may do an investigation and it may come up unsubstantiated, but they would probably transfer the staff because they cannot afford the two working at the same location.

At this point though, I'd almost prefer they fire me so I can collect unemployment while looking for a new job. I think I'm done with group homes.

I thought he said something about potential negligence or an action that could have been misconstrued as negligence.

At any rate, when it comes to something serious where accusations and hearings are done, typically regardless of whether or not it is substantiated, the involved party is transferred or their role changes. It's unfortunate, but companies like that are all about mitigating liability, real or potential.

Truth is a lot of these clients can say whatever they want and they would be untouchable. I hear them frequently cuss at their caregivers and call them racial slurs, telling them they're gonna knife them when they're not looking. If one makes an allegation that somebody abused them, an investigation must be done. It may be unsubstantiated, but agencies gotta do what they gotta do. There can be ten false accusations, but what if the eleventh one turned out to be true?

In this particular case, one of my residents had a mark around his eye. Somebody saw him and suspected he might have been hit by one of my staff and that I knowingly tried to cover it up. As far as I can tell, it's unsubstantiated. But I still can't work at that program anymore. Even in a substituting capacity.
