Run over it with your car, then tell him to buy an I Phone. Blackberry's suck. I had one for 2 years prior to my I Phone, and it ALWAYS... HAD... ISSUES...

I have this whenever I'm in shouting distance of my father:

Firewind: I honestly don't know, I use an iPhone not a Galaxy.
FW's Father: Well how do I get into contacts?
FW: They don't have a standardised design so I honestly couldn't tell you without looking at it.
FW's Father: Well try to find my contacts *hands over the phone*
FW: Do you have the manual?
FW's Father: See? It is stupid! it's a stupid phone!
FW: Did you read the manual?
FW's Father: Why would you need to do that? They should make it simple so I can find my bloody contacts and ring someone!
FW: Who are you trying to call?
FW's Father: Your sister.
FW: *Takes out own iPhone* Call Louise *passes dialling phone to Father* Problem solved. *starts searching for PDF of a Samsung Galaxy manual for next time*

On the one hand people should take responsibility for learning how to use their own devices, but on the other it's entirely possible to make device interfaces that an autistic five year old can navigate without demonstration. I know this from experience. If the phone really needs a manual, there's something wrong with it.

The fact that there is a manual does not excuse poor design.

Seriously though, the things they want me to figure out for them is honestly stuff they should be contacting the manufacturer about. Given enough time I can probably google my way to something that might be a fix, but it'd be a lot simpler and effective to contact the company directly since you know, they have people whose entire job is sorting this stuff out.

erm galaxy II which i have contacts is an icon on front screen theres Phone, contacts, messaging and aplication all alogn the bottom......

I hate it when I'm searching YouTube, come across a video I'd like to watch, and then when I click it, it tells me the video was deleted. Why keep it on the search then?

I occasionally get "This video is not available in your country." This only fuels my curiosity.

Its alphabetical and down the right side is small a-z he jsut taps lightly on the letter and it goes to first contact of that letter.....

It might be easier if I say that my father has no patience whatsoever. It's like living with Victor Meldrew at times. For any Americans not familiar with the character, imagine having to actually live with Dr Cox from Scrubs (they are very similar characters even if the relevant sitcoms are completely different).

It's both hilarious and infuriating to live with at times that even the slightest amount of stupidity (of in the case of the Smart Phone, perceived stupidity) will put him into rant mode until he calms down.
