HAHA If only that were true. She'd been pressuring my dad for years to make me get confirmed, get a 'real' marriage, and baptize my kids. She probably would have approved.

But no, like I was saying, I don't think they were trying to be dicks. I hadn't seen most of these people in at least ten years , so all they had to go on to talk to me was I was Catholic. For me to remain faithfully Catholic would be the most favorable assumption they could make in their minds, so they tried to make conversation with Catholic stuff.

Then again, I'm not opposed to lying in and around a church - I'm already going to hell if it exists, so I might as well enjoy myself on the way.

I'm a confirmed Catholic, but I have no idea if that's how I'd like to raise my children. Is it even okay to raise a kid without a religion? I feel like they'd start asking questions and I'd have to give them non-answers to avoid crushing their tiny little souls.

I am also a confirmed Catholic, but I haven't considered myself Catholic for at least fifteen years. Both of my kids were recently baptized in Mexico which wasn't really my choice but it makes my ex-in-laws happy so I wasn't going to argue, they will be able to make their own decisions when they get older and I will be alongside them no matter what. I know what it feels like to have your parents persecute your religious choices so I wouldn't do that to my own kids.

Whenever one of our kids asks one of those Unanswerables, we just try to represent as best we can what different major cultures think, what we personally think, and what if anything science has to say about the issue. None of them have gotten to the soul-crushingly heavy questions like "Does life have inherent meaning?" or "Is there such a thing as free will?" yet, though. We've gone over "What happens to someone when they die?" but death is such a far-removed concept from their every day lives that the answer is a mere curiosity to them. It'll be awhile before they realize how important that is.

Well it was Skinheads feeding through a hose connected to a gas mains. They broke a window, put the hose in and let the inevitable happen. Thankfully nobody was hurt.

No that's pretty much right. They're still a major universal problem in urban areas across all of Europe.

Thankfully they tend to spend more time engaging in self destructive behaviour than actually being threatening or organised (mostly)

I won't say we have "none" but in my area, it's predominantly puerto ricans/dominicans/blacks. No room for that type of racism in my area if anything like that were to happen.

IT guys would get more respect if they dropped out of the foamboard ceilings hanging by a CAT5 like Spiderman. That's how little respect IT guys get as it is.

One of my IT guys is a total nerd, into D&D, MMOs, Renaissance Faires, etc.

The other one is so anal-retentive it makes my head spin, and this is coming from someone who is self-proclaimed anal-retentive and extremely concerned with detail to the point that I spend twice as long on something as I should.

They're both pretty cool though, IMO. I guess it's because I'm also a nerd and I also understand general computer workings, so I can have an intelligent conversation with either of them. I spent about twenty minutes one day telling the second IT guy about the website I'd designed for my kids about 5 years ago written entirely in HTML with tables - and since I disliked the default table border style, I created my own borders by adding additional table rows and columns to style the borders to my liking; and while in progress, continued to beta-test it across three different browsers. He was impressed with that level of obsessive-compulsiveness and attention to detail; to the point where he asked me why it was that I even work where I work.

It was an interesting conversation.
