There is hope though. Every time my family gets an empty carboard box or show box, my little sister usually steals it and either uses it to make a fort or make something else.

Eh. Not the same. Instead of explicitly protesting gay marriage (as in the first instance of that image), they're doing it implicitly by spending all their money at an organization that donates its money to gay-hating organizations.

Notice how in the original image, both photographs had signs and American flags, so the parallels were much more apparent. 40 years from now, the average college student would probably have to look up Chick-Fil-A's history to understand the reference of the photograph used in the above image, assuming it's even used in context (if not, it's somewhat strange, but fairly unremarkable).

Honestly, what needs to happen is that gay couples need to gather en-masse and do some old-fashioned sit-ins to protest the company's policies, ordering a water and generally acting like any other couple who's in love with each other in the meantime.

Unfortunately, sit-ins sort of lose part of their point when done on a chain with a drive-thru, but still.

I dunno, I think people bragging about a 45 minute wait for a chicken sandwich at a fast food restarant to make an empty statement is pretty stupid.

What saddens me is some people sincerely believe this was a speech issue. If you want to take issue with goverment overreach and the press getting a little too uppity, I would say take the matter of speech to them on the Chik-fil-a on the matter. At the end of the day, CFA still gives money to groups that lobby help hate groups in countries as far flung away as Uganda - a country that wants to make being homosexual illegal and put them to death for it.

Oh, and it gets worse. You get put to death for having STDs because you might be gay, if you know someone that might be gay and don't report it you'll be punished as well.

And people had the audacity to say this was mostly a speech issue.

I had a friend on facebook the other day proudly proclaiming he was eating at Chick-fil-a in celebration of free speech. I wanted to smash my face into my keyboard. It just strikes me as like showing up to a gun show in the wake of a shooting to celebrate the second amendment. I think if the Chick-fil-a debacle means anything in the context of free speech, it should be a reminder that freedom is a double-edged sword that can be grotesque as well as majestic. Accepting that dual nature is one thing but glorifying it is quite another.

Shock though. The usual culprits are endorsing the company: Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin. Apparently, John McCain now regrets ever giving Sarah her 15 minutes of fame. But as far as Chik-fil-A goes, I read this the other day...

the hate is just so... Wow....

I don't understand how some one can hate gays....

The people that I know that are gay are actually really great people, and I'd rather have them as my friends, than some one who is straight.
