I'm not a religious person but you can't call it a religion.
It's nothing more than a financially clever cult.
The various religions of the world are noted throughout history. No mention of scientology until 1952-1953.

People can believe what they wish.
The recruitment methods are sinister and there is almost no difference to how a cult operates. Single out damaged personalities, find the weak point, go for it, isolate them from their previous life.
Then the followers comply mimicing stockholm syndrome the thing is they weren't held captive they went willingly.
It's quite clever really.

The dianetics wasn't my only dealing with them though. I went to a meeting which told me I could heal people if believed enough.
With the testing though I found it odd that it reacted to the question about my nan's death but not about what I'd just been doing. it did not move the needle. Where I was emotional about that because I'd had a needlestick injury and was potentially at risk of hiv and other things. I was petrified. But I said I'd gone for a blood test and it did nothing.
They tried my nan's death and tried to run with that. Nice try.


You may be scientologists and fair play to you for that, Everyone is entitled to a place they feel they belong.
Personally I think instead of dianetics a psycological evaluation is more important.

Only because scientology is a fairly recent development. The only real difference between a religion and a cult is its magnitude and how socially acceptable it is.

Becomming emotionally unstable, and having the psychirotrists making it worse by digging around. The more one diggs, the tighter I close up, and the longer I hold it.

Fuck... I'm tired of this shit... I think its time to go see a doc, and see if I can get some happy pills....

I had a hard time with dealing with death early in my career after a child died reacting to medicine I gave him.
I found a psycologist / shrink very intrusive and not helpful. Questioning me and then questioning the answers, I felt that I was paying somebody to do nothing.
I tried medication, most anti-depressants take a while to build up in your system to feel the benefit. Mine took about 3 weeks. After that I felt numb, neither happy nor sad, just .... functioning.

What worked for me was when I was sent to a counsellor for a chat after the senior sister found me crying in a cupboard.
The cousellor was amazing, just chatting like you would to a friend I found her very helpful. She still asked questions but i was ok with them. maybe it was because there were less of them, maybe i felt a better connection with her. maybe I was more at ease because she wasn't titled as a shrink.
It's just what worked for me.

Which ever route you choose the important thing is having a good support network of people, friends, colleagues,family who are aware and supportive.
My biggest help was my Ls they did wonders for my confidence and will always love them for that.

The right pill can work miracles, but the wrong one can make things worse, and it can take months and months of trial and error before you find a drug or combinations of drugs at just the right doses that work for you. By the same token, the right psychologist can make a huge difference, and just because one or two haven't worked for you doesn't mean you should write them off as a profession. As widespread as depression diagnosis is these days, every case is unique and odds are you're going to find a lot of therapies that don't help you before you find one that does. The point is, explore as many options as you can and don't give up trying. It'd be discouraging for a normal-minded person to deal with and being depressed makes it harder, but persistence is the only thing for it.

If you think a forum-based support group would be a good thing for you, you might as Jarre for a link to the site he's involved in.

I think people needs to make a HUGE distinction between Faith and Religion. Faith isn't bad, Religion is.

I think everyone has Faith in something that helps us make sense of the world we live in. Be it Science or a God or something else.

Religion on the other hand is just a business machinery created for the sole purpose of exploiting people's faith and turn it into financial and political power.
