Woke up today not feeling depressed for the first morning in several, then as I got ready to tackle the day and make up for lost time found my brain swimming occipital lobe deep in mucus from a sudden onset of allergies. The Zyrtec: it does nothing. fml
Peeve #2: Started to post a thread about an ongoing news event earlier but then imagined all the bullshit and blather that would inevitably be posted by certain individuals who want to make their opinions sound much more informed and well-reasoned then they actually are. I stopped myself. I'm continually proud of our community for being able to have polite and respectful discourse not only on the game but even the normally poisonous topics of sex and religion. I wish we could also talk about politics and economics without courting a shitstorm.
You suck. You are a horrible human being. This is the Internet. Reasoned opinions don't belong here. Trolling and flaming and porn is what the game is.
If it wasn't for irresponsible and uninformed opinions, there would be very few people here at all. Way to go, you're killing the forum.
I wish we could also talk about politics and economics without courting a shitstorm.
If people here where able to hold them selves back from being able to cause a shitstorm, I would say go for it. I don't like how people are democrats, and what not. Both the parties have good and bad views to everyone. Just wish it would form into one party with all the good ideas.
-Shrugs.- Oh well.
But, if there was a way to prevent people from posting in a certain thread for a while if they do cause something, then that could actually prevent that from happening.

Without drilling down into the philosophical differences between the parties, the ideas each side has that you consider to be the good ones almost certainly does not match up the the set of ideas each has that I consider good. Even if somehow the parties were to magically align so that you agreed completely with one party's platform, we'd still be in the same situation because roughly as many people would support the new party you 100% disagree with.
But the problem I have is the ideas each party "stands for" are hardly even relevant. Precious little of what goes on in Washington (or at least what is relayed to us by the media) has anything to do with philosophical differences or clashing viewpoints between people in power so much as an absurd pantomime of what each party thinks their active constituents want to hear. And when I say "constituents" I mean the wealthy benefactors and corporations that fund everyone's campaigns as much if not more than actual voters. If our elected representatives spent even half as much time actually representing the interests of the electorate rather than on image manipulation and gaming the system as hard as possible for votes, the rest would sort itself out on its own.
It should go without saying that the above paragraph is solely my opinion and I don't make any claim to sole arbitership of the facts, but if this exchange continues it probably wouldn't hurt to admit as often as possible.
