I'm not normally someone to whine about their real life problems on the interwebs but this has been really stressing me out lately:

Thanks to a typo on the system of either the University of Chester or Student Finance England (both blame the other), which basically has put me down for the right course but wrong course year, my Student Loan for this year was approved but not paid since, well the loan is for the wrong course.

So basically I'm stuck in limbo between finishing my degree and what you guys would call grad school because I have a year's worth of tuition that hasn't been paid! And it's taken until the end of the year for the University to inform me of this so it could have been resolved sooner.

So basically in order to get out of limbo I have to write a letter (yes write a letter, not do something that would be I dunno FAST) to the Student Loan company to appeal to have a change made to a typo on my account that should not have been there in the first place if the data inputter was doing his/her job correctly.

Interesting thing about Student Finance England: They are based in Scotland, have their main office in Darlington (Which is close enough to Scotland to basically be Scotland) and their call centres are based in Glasgow and from the sound of things, India, and the Student Loan Company itself is based in Bristol, which if you know your UK geography is basically the complete and utter opposite end of the country to Darlington.

Who do I write to my strongly worded letter to?

EDIT: Oh and I also have a mixture of hayfever and an infection of my left eye. Basically my left eye is swollen shut and my right one is constantly puffy and watery. Yay for impaired vision while having to write to somebody! I tried to do it by hand but I literally cannot read what I just wrote and my printer is at my sister's and my old one is sitting broken on top of my wardrobe.

Should be fun.

People who make you feel bad for them after a break up has been done and over with for over four months. I have a "friend" on FB who I was with for a little while, but I broke up with them for several reasons, a few of course where because they smoked, drank heavily, and did drugs. Not something I am into all that much.

For some reason I am getting her status updates all the time, and its been quite some time, but we aren't friends on FB, but its giving me her updates for one reason or another, I don't know why, and its making me feel bad about breaking up with her over four months ago. wtf face book!?

To be honest Facebook drama queens are basically Drama Queens who don't have the guts to do it to a real person.

Well, she isn't really being a "Drama Queen" by any means, its just that I am getting her updates for some reason, and some of them just tend to make me feel bad. Like some say "I'm alone tonight, oh well..." Or some such like that, but most are mostly good, but still, it makes me feel bad.

But I am not friends with her though, I don't know why its giving me them.

My Facebook related peeve: People who passive-aggressively rant and bitch about their boyfriend or girlfriend every single day, and make everyone feel sorry for them.

For example: "I'm sick of this shit. I'm done, and I'm putting my foot down. I don't have to be treated like this"

Now when you read that, it seems like something bad happened, but in reality, the person in question is mad because her boyfriend fell asleep and didn't get on Skype with her. This repeats itself over many small issues that get severely blown out of proportion. I'm really questioning why the guy is still with her, or why I even have her on facebook in general.

Oh boy, fail cascade day for me. It was so retarded it actually became funny instead of annoying.

The morning was pretty crappy for many work related reasons but nothing that bad, then the rest of the day was just a train wreck.

The heck is with this tip entitlement crap?

Went to a busy restaurant against my better judgement because it was an "Oh such a nice place with great atmosphere and food and all that crap!!11". That, didn't go well, and we left the restaurant before even been able to get our food because of how bad the service was and how long it took just for them to take our order (strangely enough getting a table was relatively fast.) And the waiter actually wanted a tip even though he didn't even bother bringing us something to drink while we were waiting - a very long time- for our food. He then tried to make a scene of it talking about how he had to pay for the table and some other nonsense I don't really care about.

Because to me a tip is a reward for a good service, and the amount depends solely on my assessment of the service provided. Percentages, table bribes, serving mafias, etc. I just don't give a flying f*** about. Even more so when there was no service provided to begin with. If it wasn't so then they should just include it on the price of the food and give me a receipt for the tip so I can use it for my taxes just like any other purchase.

But anyway, I guess I looked at him like I was going to beat the crap out of him or something (don't ask me) because he suddenly looked funny at me and pretty much ran away with his tail between his legs. /shrug

TL;DR I shouldn't have gone to a "popular" restaurant on a sunday, or any other day of the week for that matter.

So this person I went to the restaurant with (yes a girl /sigh), well...

You know what's nice? When you meet a cute girl you get along with and that likes to know more about you and your hobbies even though she knows nothing about them. Bonus points when she also tells you about her hobbies but there's a nice balance between sharing our interests and being able to talk about them without trying to force them on the other person. Though you naturally end up taking some interest and trying some things out. For instance, she was even willing to play XI with me a few months ago to give this MMOG thing a try.

You know what's sad? When even though you are doing great and there's a lot of chemistry and strong flirting going on she still decides to go out with the stereotypical bad boy for whatever reason. Sad indeed, but we still got together and it was still a lot of fun just being friends, even if any romantic developments were out of the question for me from that moment on.

Bonus > And playing XI with me was still on track!

You know what's ugly? When the girl in question starts being treated like crap by the bad boy (yeah, I was sooo surprised as well...) and changed her character pretty dramatically in a relatively short amount of time. From cute, feminine and alive to manly, bitter and pretty much a shadow of the girl she used to be in like 5 seconds flat. Ugly indeed, but it was her choice.

You know what pisses me off? When this girl tries to use me as her escape and tries to force her problems on me. Which ended up with me cutting any ties with her very swiftly, as usual. Because I've gone through the same a few times before, it's some sort of Job Trait of mine, I hypothesize. So, she is gone from my life for some time, but then tries to make peace and pretends to be all cute again. So I cautiously agree to go out with her to a restaurant so we can (try to) talk like the friends we used to be.

This, as expected, did not end well. She is no longer with the other guy, she realizes how much she lost when she didn't choose me, she wants me to take the other guy's leftovers and endure her newly found bitterness and bitchness (which by that point was showing like leaking radioactive materials from the Fukushima plant) yadda, yadda, yadda. Did I mention I've been through the exact same crap a few times before?

So, I'm upset about the bad service, about the bad company and about being hungry as hell without having any food to distract me from the situation I was in. Winning.

Which is why I left as a tempest and made an interesting scene while leaving the restaurant. But what can you do? Afterwards I just dropped the radioactive materials in the closest sea I could find (standard procedure I hear) and returned home to type this rant to vent some steam. /yay

Now, I'm not trying to put blame on others. It was 100% my fault the moment I decided to go outside on a sunday instead of staying home and playing some Perpetuum (pretty nice Mecha MMORPG, very popular with EVE expatriates right now) and Shogun 2. And the gods made sure I was throughly punished for it.


Today's lesson: Do not go out again unless it's work related or to gather (buy) food and other necessities. And do not interact with other people in the real whenever possible (for some time.)

Sir, if I don't know you, you don't give me a TON of business. And just because your wife got pissed off at you for spending a shit ton of money to play golf, doesn't give you the right to call and ask for a refund THREE DAYS after the fact!!!

Also, if you were misquoted, I can understand you are unhappy. But you have to know the amount that you were "quoted". You can't narrow it down to a $30 range that is far less than half of the going rate, and expect it to happen. I don't care how rude and angry you get on the phone.

I used to work as a chef and waiters/waitresses are the biggest waste of space you will ever have to deal with and nine times out of ten treat you worse than the customers.

If they aren't stealing from tip jars or bailing way before closing time to leave you stuck clearing up, they're spending way too much time arsing around and talking and some god awful reality TV show nobody gives a shit about while there's usually a huge queue of people waiting to be shown to a table or waiting to be served. Bar staff are just as bad as well and are probably even worse for going AWOL at the worst fucking times.

Meanwhile the people in the kitchen are not only stuck under piles of order from customers who can't seem to comprehend that because their order is order number fifty in the list, they might be in for a long wait for food. If we dare to fuck around or chat to each other we get bitched at by the manager or even the fuckwits we have for waiting staff. Bonus fucktard poitns for the waiting staff if they don't bother to TELL the customers that they will be in for a long wait. Sometimes even if the restaurant's empty looking we might be rushed off our feet back there for another reason.

Then they come running into the kitchen and expect us to drop what we are doing and deal with customers very they likely pissed off, causing us to further delay customer's orders and get people riled up even more. If someone is complaining fetch the fucking manager or head chef, don't come to me when I'm trying to cook meals for two families while trying to avoid overcooking their food and burning myself horribly.

Oh then you have the lazy ones who have no idea what a chef yelling "Service!" and placing a group's meals out to be taken to a table means and spend ages fucking around and chatting about some god awful reality TV show. Then they start acting butthurt when a customer complains about their food being cold.

Seriously, nobody who has ever had to work with them gives a shit about the waste of space that are waiting staff. Nine times out of ten, it's their own damn fault for customers exploding at them. Every now and then you will have someone who actually has half a brain and knows how to handle customers but usually it's some stupid teenager whose first response to a complaint is "Ohhh I'll see what I can do..." or seem to think that telling someone that "We are very busy right now so it might take a very long time to get food" is like telling a customer to "Fuck off, go fuck yourself and never come back or I will rape your entire family". Pay is no excuse either. Guess what? I'm a chef who gets it in the arse for your screw ups and I get minumum wage too. Stop fucking around and do your job.

Know what has happened when I've had to personally come out and explain to a family that the chefs are swamped? I'd say 95% of them were cool about it and either were fine with being patient or thanked me and left to go somewhere else (usually another restaurant owned by the same company anyway so it's not as if we're losing business). It's only a tiny minority of people who are truly dickish about being told that they might have to wait for their food.
