Please stop tricking me into thinking you're going to show a marathon of a show I actually enjoy, lure me into a sense of security with my television watching of the day, and then totally blindsiding me by then airing a show that totally sucks, causing me to have to go through the process of flipping to all of the channels I regularly watch looking for something else worth watching. Your ploy to get me to watch your sucky show is not going to work. Fuck you from the bottom of my heart.

So, I'm job hunting at the moment. I haven't met with much success. I mean, I have a job, but I want a better one, because my hours suck and I don't get paid as much as I'd like. My boyfriend, who is normally a completely rational person, asks me every day if I've found a new job (which would ideally have better hours and such).

Don't you think if I had found one I'd have told you? You don't need to ask. Just, you know, sit back and worry about something else.

I feel you on the job thing. I hate the new model of job searches now being conducted entirely online. I apply for several jobs a day, and I've heard nothing back. At all. I'm sorry, but the fact that I was once in the Army doesn't mean shit, whoever told me I'd get "veterans preference" is full of poopity. And you can't call people, because heaven forbid you disrupt their day when you're trying to make a living.

Unemployment pays me less than half of what I made in a month, too. Yeah, I can totally live off $150 a week. -.- Meanwhile some fucking elected official is trying to cut that even further because he needs a new car. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGE.

Try job fairs. It's a hell of a lot harder for them to rudely ignore you after they see you in person and you get ahold of their email. Or at least, that's what I found.

Usually I feel like they don't give me the time of day at those things. They hand you a flier and shoo you away. Never heard of anyone getting hired from a job fair. I've been looking for them. I've started browsing craigslist even. They took out the adult section. I can't even show my bewbs for money anymore. Wtf. Lol.

Maybe it's different at the tech job fairs. All I know is a got a hell of a lot more responses from job fairs than dropping resumes online.

It's annoying. I have excellent recommendation letters from a recent (not Coke) employer, and I've been told a lot of times that I do excellent work. But because I don't have a degree, or some niche skill, I'm not even given the time of day. And if I could afford to go to some tech school and get a skill, I'd have done that already.

You know why I like Facebook?

Because I can befriend my cousins who I don't see very often and find out that they apparently have had kids in the past few years that I was not aware of.

Do you know why I hate Facebook?

Because I had to find this shit out over the internet, and not from my dad, who I regularly ask if anything is new with anyone in the family. So I guess it's not really a FB peeve as much as it's a peeve with my dad.

So a friend of a friend who works for UPS Corporate suggested I apply online at UPSJobs.com because he has some openings in his division that I'd be ideal for. Good pay, great benefits, all of that. UNFORTUNATELY, the jobs haven't been posted yet, so beyond my name and phone #, their ridiculous job site won't allow me to apply for anything or even upload a resume. I'm supposed to forward him all of my information so he can have HR locate me in the system, but I can't even get into the freaking system.

I understand that this is just the way things are done these days, but man is it overly fucking complicated sometimes. I also spoke last night with a friend who manages a local Starbucks. He said they would be unlikely to hire me because they know that it would just be a stopgap for me based on my past employment history and education, and it wouldn't be worthwhile to go through the process of hiring and training me because I'd be gone as soon as something better came along. Also, totally requires online applications onry as well. Damn it.

It's a movie that came out a few years ago about some roommates who make a porno to make the money to pay their rent. I was teasing though. I'm broke, but not desperate enough at this point to do porn or anything similar.
