I do not have to deal with anyone except for about six people. It's great. And while I have my own phone (and my own personal extension), I have not yet had to use it for anything. It just kind of sits there on my desk taking up space.

People who like to take stuff out of the boxes to look at it when there is a picture on the box of what it looks like. I found at least fifteen things out of the box, and they are a pain in the ass to put it back in the box when you are trying to work fast.

People who rip stuff off the hook, so that the cardboard rips so that I can't put it back on the hook.

People who don't put stuff back where it belongs. I find shampoo in the furniture department, and I find food in the Christmas stuff. It is not fucking hard to walk three damn feet to put something where it fucking belongs!

People just in general... I am getting tired of people already... bleh...

I took care of that forever ago by blocking everyone's sigs and avatars. More orderly looking forums ftw.

Also, Takelli, I hear you on your peeves, but that's just the reality of retail. Customers DO NOT CARE that you have to put this shit back. They barely even know you're alive, until you mess up in some way, or they perceive you to have done so, and then suddenly they are acutely aware of your existence. It does not change, no matter the level of retail.

Having been through the gauntlet of retail jobs myself, I now try to do what I can to not be the customer that ruins it for the people who work retail. We're not all bad.

I've also been a waitress and a bartender. I try to be the kind of customer I liked to wait on.

Oh, absolutely. I've worked retail, I've worked in restaurants, I've worked in bars. I always go out of my way to be polite and friendly to these people, and to treat them like actual human beings, unlike so many customers out there.

I have a strategy for work on Friday.

If anyone is being mean to me or another customer. I'm going to hold the Kirby's Epic Yarn case in front of them. Kirby's Epic Yarn is scientifically proven to calm people who actually have a soul.



Granted, retail is the very last place I wanted to be in terms of having a job, but I had to get something on my resume that got me away from manufacturing and this is all there was for the time being. I start working at 1am Friday morning, get to leave at 6am and then, somehow, I'm expected to return to work from 4pm to 9pm.

Yeah. Good luck with that. Sad truth is I live like three miles from where I work, but its also going to be the most traffic intensive area (mall, restaraunt, shopping centers), so I might have to leave at 2pm if I want to get back in time.

Yes, I try to treat people nicely too, and so on. If some one has a question, I try to answer it, and say hello to the customers and ask them if they need help. Most customers ignore me though, and don't even say hi back.

I also try to act like the customer I would want in my store. If I pick up something, I always put it back where it was if I decide I don't want it later. I also don't open up hand creams and use them in the middle of the store (I have found empty hand creams, and even half empty soap bottles wtf are people doing with soap in the middle of a store!?!?!?!).

Facebook advocacy. Especially the kind that exploits guilt. For example, something a family friend posted on her status:

"Every person has 1000 wishes, a cancer patient only has one: to get better. I know 97% of you won't post this as your status, but my friends will be the 3% that do, in honor of someone who died of or is fighting cancer."

Lotta guilt in there for something that is just a step above a Twitter entry...

I hate those posts ... all it says to me when someone posts crap like that is "I'm too lame to be original." At least if you go to some website and look up some thoughtful quotes you went through the effort of finding something that had some sort of relevance to your life. (And chances are, 50 other people didn't post it to your feed in the last 20 minutes).

I hate facebook. But my mother guilted me in to joining, so she and my other family members can berate me online instead of over the phone, or (better, honestly) behind my back from 1100 miles away.

I only have 35 people friended on there. I am VERY picky. I get friend requests fairly often, but I just don't want to be internet buddies with most people. I guard my information somewhat fiercely, and I like having the freedom to post what I want when I want without pissing some random person I barely know off. So I just keep it small.

Also, I do not have any applications added. I refuse! I am forever blocking apps though. "[Person] invited you to join [Application!]" BLOCKED.
