That's another pet peeve ... how many more times are they going to attempt to milk the Shrek franchise?

Thank God they didn't show those! Lol they showed a teaser trailer for a new JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg project called Super 8, and the new Shrek trailer.

Only 2 trailers!? We had like 6 or 7! Super 8 was the very last one and everyone was going "that was it? That was the big super secret bs?" lol We saw the new Inception trailer too by Christopher Nolan. We thought it was the new Batman trailer at first. lol

I think there was a 3rd trailer too, but I don't remember what it was. They've been showing the Inception trailer for quite a while now, and I want to see that movie badly. From what it looks like, I think it might be something similar to Dark City maybe?

Ohh yeah, and furthermore. I was at a restaurant for a luncheon a couple of days ago, and the lady across from me was complaining about how one of the waiters was dressed. "I can't stand when young men wear their pants down around their ankles like that." I turned around expecting to see some urban youth in street clothes, but it was a Caucasian male with the restaurant uniform on and his pants below his waist. The problem was that the guy was built like Ursula from Spiderman 2 & 3, he had no behind and nothing to hold his pants up with other than his legs. He was so thin that I don't even think they make pants in that size.

People 'translating' Engrish into English, especially in songs. Leave it broken; do you really think it was intended to make sense anyway? All you can do is give your best guess at what they're talking about, and in songs, that's usually a bad idea.

lol That reminds me of this morning. I was in the kitchen with a bag of navy beans because I'm making a pot of white chili. My son comes in and asks what's in the bag. When I told him the beans for chili, he looked at me confused and said "those hard little things?" I told him "Yes, you know that beans aren't picked off the plants in cans, right?" I got a really ugly look for that one. lol And yes beans are hard little buggers until you soak them in water, in case anyone was wondering. Hell I remember when the game Dont Spill the Beans was actually played with real pinto beans.......yes, I'm THAT old!

BTW that was a killer outfit you wore for the Iron Man 2 movie =P

OMG, I'm young but I've always known you have to COOK beans before you eat them.......then again, could just be my mexican upbringing XD



Edit: Didnt want to double post, but this just happened at work and it seriously makes me wanna reach thru the phone and choke a bitch:

I work for State Farm providing quotes over the phone when agents are closed, and this guy with a shitty british accent calls in saying he's seen our commercials about how we can save people money on their auto insurance. He starts going off about how he was insured with us for 30 years and during that time we "ripped" him off and that he didn't save money until he switched to another company. He then goes on to tell me that if we don't stop airing said commercials, he will write letters to "whoever he deems necessary" about his experience with us to force us to stop airing said commercials.

Now normally, I'm a pretty cool guy on the phone, I can sit there and take a customer cussing at me like there's no tomorrow (not that I have to take it, since they allow us to disconnect the call) but this guy just got to me. I mean, my time is money, I get paid both hourly and commision, so whatever time I'm wasting listening to this guy bitch and moan I could be getting a sales call. I pretty much let it rip on the guy, telling him he must be a very sad lonely man if he is calling an insurance company he "hates" to threaten that he is going to write letters to stop us from airing the same commercial that pretty much every other company airs "Hi! We are (insert insurance company here), we can save you money on your (insert line of insurance here) insurance! Call us!"

I hate the air conditioning unit in my apartment, or rather, the thermostat mechanism.

See, if you don't touch the thermostat at all for 24 hours, the unit goes into "standby mode" which basically means that it resets itself to 5 degrees higher than what you want it to be set at, and that if it gets to that 5 extra degrees point, only then will it kick back on to cool the apartment. So at least once a day, it gets almost unbearably hot in the apartment until I realize that I have to (once again) adjust the temperature so that the air will come on at regular intervals.

Now, this system is good in theory - if you're gonna like go on vacation. And if I could put it to that setting when it's necessary (like if all of us are going to be out for a long period of time, which doesn't happen here but imagine I were living alone and that I'd be going on vacation) then it would be kind of handy and save me money when I go out of town.

But in a complex where all of the apartments have four residents who are almost entirely college students and therefore at least someone is home at pretty much all times? And where there's no way to turn the standby mode off? It's not a great system. It's actually really annoying.

5 degrees? So if it's set at 75, let's say, then when it goes into standby it will get 80 in the apartment. Or do you have it set at 85 and it gets to 90. I can give you 90+ as unbearably hot. We've been getting a lot of 90+ days in summer in Wisconsin and that is unbearably hot to me!

Today's pet peeve:

My daughter and her guilt trips. It's Mothers Day (Happy Mothers Day to all our forum mommies!) and she is still laying it on thick. I've been SUPER busy and I always am in the spring, so she wants to take me out for Mothers Day. Well she didn't ask me ahead of time so I had other plans and I've not been able to keep solids down for a while either so it's really senseless to go out to eat. But would she be mature and understand?? Noooooooooooo! She was whining and wheedling and carrying on, if my mother had not been there to tell her to knock it off I would have caved in and went whether I was sick or not. That girl needs to screw her head on straight and realize the world does not revolve around her.

My room gets ridiculously hot because I have sunlight for at 75% of the day, so I have to keep the air on cool. Also, since I hate my roommates, I never leave my room except to actually leave the apartment and to sometimes cook. So being in my room all day (at least on weekends) makes it very hot in here, and I keep the thermostat set to 73. After about a half an hour with the AC on standby, I'm sweating in my room without even doing anything.

Well just keep telling yourself "July is coming....less than two months to go..." And make sure your new place isn't facing the same direction so you don't have the same issue (assuming most complexes have the standby feature down there).
