I know that but it seems ridiculous to me to develop something for only one browser, especially the least secure browser in existence.

Yeah, they designed the EMR at the last clinic I worked at. It was a pretty shitty system overall. Could have been much better, but felt like they didn't want to sink the money into it to really develop it as well as it could have been. You'd think the largest company (I think) in the world could spare some capital to do make it better, but apparently not.

As for using IE, I know, it sucks. But unfortunately in addition to being the least secure it's also the most used, maybe not in personal computers, but definitely in businesses, so software companies often don't bother making sure their software works with other browsers.
I imagine it's largely due to the average age of these larger business owners. I'm curious to see how stuff like that changes in the next 20 years when people who realize the complete superiority of Firefox and Chrome have more of a say in these things.

Fixed. Chrome is utter crap. I can't stand the way Chrome manages tabs. I do hope that with the generation change, things will change. Then again, you have people like my mom who still browse with AOL.

I lumped in Chrome because I've known a lot of people who use it, assuming I'll be able to throw anything I look at with it to chromecast it may see more use in the future, but at the moment I don't use it at all. I used to use Opera all the time but it just isn't supported as well by a lot of websites so I've moved to Firefox fulltime.

On a different note, apparently there's an employee awards ceremony being telecast to all of the stations on our "in-house" channel. It's like the Emmys or the Grammys but with a bunch of corporate bigwigs who want to fellate themselves for being good at sales or some crap.

I like working at a TV station but the amount of self-congratulating most of the people I work with - and this is throughout the country - do on a daily basis is ridiculous. Meanwhile, our department, who is never recognized for anything even though we're directly responsible for most of our advertising dollars actually making it into the bank, is sitting quietly in our little cave of an office while people in the next office over are fawning over this crap like it actually means something.

And I've never been one for award shows in general, but this is even more ridiculous and honestly, simply reeks of something manufactured specifically to give all these corporate tools another reason not to work.

Granted I'm sure they're from different budgets but for real, I am tired of having to roll my pants up like a 1900s newsboy when I go outside.

So my computer at work has been kaput since yesterday, working on a spare and still missing shit. IT guy came in to look at it for four seconds, said, "I'll be right back," and hasn't come back yet ... that was like 2 hours ago.

I think I would hate it if that were my job, they are so overworked it's ridiculous.

Yes, yes they are. Today our IT guy had to deal with the fact that the share drive for the entire building just up and vanished. Apparently someone either moved or deleted it. I have no idea if that got fixed or not, but a lot of people were grumbling about it on our floor today.

I wish somebody had told me I should be writing a family tree as I go along while reading "A Song of Fire and Ice". As I'm reading, I keep having to think in my head:

Stuff

The book is about Eddard/Ned Stark. He and his wife, Caetlynn, have 4 kids. Well...5, if you count the one that isn't Caelynn's kid. One of those kids, Sansa, is promised to marry Jerkface Baratheon, son of Robert Baratheon who served alongside Eddard in some coup to dethrone the previous ruling family, the Targaryens. The two remaining Targaryens are located somewhere across the sea, planning to marry into a powerful Dothraki family. The Baratheons know about this because there is a spy serving the Targaryeons, but Eddard is not too fond of the spy because the spy also happened to sell slaves while representing the Starks. Robert is married to Cersei Lannister (who happens to be getting it on with her twin brother, Jaime...not sleazy in the slightest!). Cersei also has another brother named Tyrion, who has dwarfism and, thus far, is like the only likeable character in this whole tale. Well...maybe that Stark kid, Arya, too. And Jon Snow. He's definitely sympathetic.

I imagine it only gets worse from here on, so I better start writing that family tree, huh....

And you've only just started. Before long there will be more chapter characters than there are things going on and you'll have thrown books across the room multiple times. And just wait until you've gone years between books and have to look shit up to remember who some people are. First 4 books are great, book 5 drags but I think it should pick up again in book 6.
And you basically nailed it with the likeable characters.
