Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I second that - you really have very little to lose. Most of the temp jobs I've had have required very little skill other than typing, filing, word processing, etc. Basic office stuff. The agency I went through is Adecco and they're national, unsure if they have offices in Canada. But they're all basically the same. They'll make you take a bunch of tests, some are like really basic math, a few are attention to detail tests that ask you to match a string of numbers and/or words exactly, and you'll get some typing and MS Word tests.
Even if it ends up not being your dream job or they don't keep you on, it looks attractive that you've had some work, even if it's been temping. It can be stressful when you don't know if you're going to be hired on with the company but at least you have a paycheck coming in, which does help. At the very least, you can have some income while you look for something better, and if you're a temp who happens to find another job while working, no one will really hold it against you if you put in acceptable notice before leaving. I've worked a few temp jobs, and while I've been hired on with a few, I've also left notice and gone on to work other places.
As a temp you won't get sick time (at least not here in the US), and you won't earn vacation time. You might be more expendable so just try to pick it up quickly (really I do mostly some data entry with a lot of online database recordkeeping and credit approvals, it's not hard shit), and just make yourself valuable to them. They love me here, if it weren't for all of the corporate red tape I would have been hired like 4 months ago.

Also Mal, if you do get a job I'll throw a forum party for you, we'll have e-pizza and a keg.
