My dad lives in Florida explicitly because he prefers hurricanes to earthquakes.

More people die in the US a year from hurricanes than earthquakes. Also, earthquakes are very rare. I've lived in Southern California for 12 years and have felt 2. Only 1 made me worry for 10 seconds. Then it was over.

As long as he knows far more people die from hurricanes than earthquakes, and heart disease beats all other cause of death, guess it's fine.

Knock on wood, but Florida hasn't had a major hurricane hit in a long time. The most I've gotten since I moved here was a tropical storm, which was actually kind of cool.

We get those too. Infrequently though, because we get water spouts more often.

Europe actually gets a ton of earthquakes, particularly around Italy, Spain and the UK. It's just the ones you actually feel are rare.

Funnily enough the UK gets more tornadoes per square mile than any other country in the world, it's just they tend to start out at sea and fizzle out once they hit land.

Hurricanes are frequent too, the ones that leave the East Coast of the US have to end up somewhere. Most have fizzled out by the time they reach land though. Last time one actually hit land was a few weeks ago, but most of the damage was caused by our Government being too cheap to properly maintain flood defences and dredge rivers outside of London.

Can confirm. Size of an earthquake is nothing compared to where you happen to be.

Fairly decent earthquake hit tokyo while I was living there, I didn't notice it at all; as best as I could figure out, I was probably on the train or a bus at the time, and simply couldn't feel it. And then there was the major quake, which had aftershocks for weeks, and made it very clear how different they could feel depending on where you were. Also in Taiwan, it is extremely common to hear people talk about their different reactions to earthquake. Living on a higher floor makes a HUGE difference; sitting at your desk on the sixth floor of an old apartment and standing on the street are completely different sensations.

EDIT: Also, forgot to add the peeve I came in here to mention. Pretty girl approaches me. Pretty girl follows me around. Pretty girl stands a bit too close to me. Pretty girl asks "So do you believe in Jesus?!"

If the Lord was trying to send me a message, he should've stuck with the pretty(edit:est) one, she would've had better luck selling me on it.

3DS battery has died and does not hold a charge at all. Not a charger or connector issue. The battery is completely dead. I can get about 10 mins of playtime from it before it dies.

Basically I now have a $335 paperweight \0/.
