Since people started to experiment with different ways to represent combat in RPGs? Which has been going on for as long as RPGs have been around? It's not as if it's a new thing, look at all the old first person dungeon crawlers.

My truck needs moar expensive repairs. Granted, it's 8 years old, but still newer than my old truck. Luckily, the problems are intermittent and not safety issues so I can let them slide til I have the money, but ballsacks, this blows.

At some point you have to consider the cost of upkeep on the junker versus the cost of a new/newer used car.

This. Some people get in a rut of, I can't afford another car, i need to keep repairing X,Y,Z in this PoS clunker and evetually the repairs over a few years out weigh the cost and reliablility of a newer car.

I've mentioned this place before on these forums and I must again, CARMAX is the shit. You can buy a used car on their with say 80k miles, with a great price. You can then add onto the car a 100k mile warranty that gets included into the monthly payment of the car at a reasonable price. Then, if anything goes wrong with the car under that warranty, it's only $50 out of your pocket and they fix the car. This warranty on a car with already 80k miles is ridiculously good! So in essence you are extending the warranty on this used car you purcahsed to 180k miles.

This truck is only 8 years old. It only has 70k miles. It's definitely not a junker (and this is the first issue I've had with it in the 3 years since I bought it). Compared to my old truck which was 14 years old and had 217,000 miles on it. It's not ready to be run aground yet. It runs perfectly, with no major issues. They got me all scared about it yesterday when they called but I did some research on the repair I "needed" after I made this post and found out it's not really necessary, just the dealer trying to squeeze more money out of me, so I told them to fix the brake lights and give me back my damn truck.

And a payment on a new vehicle would be twice what I pay now, which is absolutely not affordable. It's as affordable as the "affordable" care act.

New peeve:
My coworker is talking some shit about a local news story. Long story short (and you may have heard it), a 77 year old retired cop shot a guy in a movie theater, and his son also happens to be a cop. So my coworker is saying that he must have been a terrible cop and that he must have gotten away with so much behind the badge, and "I bet his son is also a piece of shit cop just like he was."

Okay, no.

There is absolutely nothing in the news anywhere that released his record while on the force, and even if there was, you're talking probably more than 20 years ago, if I had to guess. A lot can change in that time. Now 77 is kind of getting old, there are a heap of factors that can change you especially with old age. Not excusing him because he absolutely shouldn't have done it, but you can't make suppositions on his entire career - and the career of his son - just because of one isolated incident that happened that was so far removed from his career on the force and especially his son's. That's just ignorant.

Then again, she's pretty much just ignorant in general, but how about not judging people until you get more information? I haven't really been following it closely, but I know that there hasn't been that much information released, and I'm reserving my judgment until there is. Especially when you want to talk shit about his son, who wasn't even involved. And I certainly hope for the son's sake that his last name is different than his dad's (doubt), because that creates a potentially unsafe situation for him out on the streets now. The entire situation is unfortunate, but it's people like my coworker who say shit like that without any basis in really anything except emotion that might crucify the son, who for all we know could be an exemplary officer, for the actions of his father.

Sometimes I just tune her out ... today will be one of those days.

Story recap on what's been released, i watched the press conference yesterday.

Two couples in the theatre are involved, one is a guy and his wife, the other this retired cop and his son. Retired cop notices the other guy texting during previews of the movie and ask him to stop. Guy texting says no. An arguement breaks out. Popcorn gets tossed at the retired cop. Retired cop pulls out his gun and shoots at the man texting. The wife sees this happening and stick out her arm which gets in the way, and the wife is hot in her hand, her husband shot in the chest, the husband dies.

This story makes me want to puke. That retired cop is a dumb fuck and deserves to die. If he doesn't die he deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail. What a stupid fuck...

I'm of the belief that there is more to the story than has been released - the media likes to spin the hell out of everything, though I agree that he is guilty and that there is no way that Stand Your Ground should be used here. I wouldn't doubt that the guy is not right in the head, which means that he should not be carrying a weapon and that's on his family. Then again, we don't know, because most details have not been released, and probably will not be.

What set me off, though, is the way my coworker made all these suppositions about the man's career, or the son's career, because none of those are truly relevant to this case and should have absolutely no bearing on an isolated incident that truthfully, escalated pretty damn quickly.

I'd shoot somebody texting in a theater. With my semen. That's right, I'd ejaculate on the back of his head. And then he'd turn around and I'd say "Woah, woah, woah. You're texting, I'm ejaculating, let's just admit that we both made mistakes."

Sometimes I just tune her out ... today will be one of those days.
