To be fair, "good riddance" would only reasonably apply to the moment when she left public office. (As I recall reading, her own Cabinet told her that she should probably GTFO and put up a new Conservative member up in her stead; maybe she was more like a cross between Reagan and Nixon?)

Whether the world is better or worse off without her as a person (I think very few people in this world, if any, would qualify as a good judge of that), it's probably better to just focus on other things.

I don't think we Americans have anywhere near the same insight and understanding of other countries' governments that other folks have of ours. If Firewind says she's a fucked up old coot who did horribly things for the UK, then I'm inclined to believe him.

Use your words. Be frank and honest, and if you can manage it also polite, but mostly the first two. Tell her you don't hang out because you never make solid plans. If you're ok with hanging out, give her the opportunity to do so by naming a date and a time, otherwise say you're not interested anyway because reasons.

I've found figuring out what you "should" say stressful and often fruitless. Just saying what's true is easier and is effective more often than you might lead yourself to believe.

I haven't brought it up yet, but I think the easiest thing for me to say would also sound the most brusque. In my mind, she's making half-plans with the intent to hang out, but she always finds something else she'd prefer to do instead. Oddly, my mind insults me with that thought. So the easiest thing to say would be, "We don't hang out because you don't want to," which I believe is the case because if she did have a legitimate want to hang out she would have made plans to do so. The most polite thing to say would be, "Because we never make solid plans," but I want the message to be a little more pointed so I might swap out the 'we' for a 'you'.

We used to spend so much time together, but now she makes me feel like an after-thought. I thought I could handle dating a co-worker professionally and any break-up gracefully, but I never knew this situation existed. It's frustrating.

This is exactly the reason why I don't pretend to be any sort of expert on US Internal Politics.

The streets have been like the Endor scene at the end of Return of the Jedi...Well until the Government (also Tory like Thatcher's and have the exact same policies) went and sent in Riot Squads in to break up Street Parties. Then everyone remembered that living in the UK is like living in the Sith Empire...

This is so minor, but god if it doesn't irk the shit out of me.

I have a couple pairs of workout pants I bought a few months ago. Being that I have plenty of work out pants and these are capris and it hasn't been that warm out (by my standards), I haven't worn them yet. But the problem with these pants is that the bottom of the capri leg flares out, and it looks ridiculous. Now I spent money on these pants and you can bet your hiney I'm going to wear them because if there's one thing I hate, it's wasting money, but shit dude, I look absolutely ridiculous.

I guess I at least get kudos points for going to work out though, right?

Ridiculous looking clothes generally get relegated to "loafing around the house" duty for me. I've got a couple shirts that don't quite fit or look remotely presentable, but I kinda like 'em so I just wear them on weekends when I know I'm not going to be going anywhere.

I decided to change my pants. I'm glad I did. I ran into someone from my work on the trail who was out walking. And all I could think was, "Damn, I'm so glad I changed into better looking pants." It's hot as hell out there. I didn't run very far because I still struggle with that, but the amount of sweat I walked home with should say something for effort.

I haven't even been here a year, and I haven't exactly been keeping track either, but it's beein fairly cool here more often than not. Like 70 degrees or less. That'll probably change as Summer comes into full swing, but the point is that you're describing Puerto Rico. The only way to not sweat in PR is to be up on a mountain.

I am fuming, we are being cut to smitherines by the government savings program, cutting benefits, jobs, frontline services etc. and now they are going to spend £3m ($4,595,847.39) of tax payers money on Thatchers funeral..... This country makes no sense..... Typically the current government is run by conservatives who she was the leader of and the foreign secretary defends the spending... so I got a kindle as a gift a couple months ago. Today I find that the screen has broken, and that this is a very common issue with kindles, but because it's out of warranty, I have the option of $14 off a new kindle. Whoopity fucking doo. The CSR apologized and said she would've given me a free replacement, but the system is automated; Amazon has also apparently closed their ECR email address. Trying another couple email addresses, but if they don't fix or replace it, it'll probably be the first and last kindle I ever own. There's no goddamn excuse to have a fatal flaw like this and not fix it; it basically means that anyone who has a kindle accepts that it is a one year rental, plus however long it takes for the screen to break, not an actual electronic device you can count on having for any amount of time. Pretty sad that Amazon has walked away from any sort of ability to give hands-on customer care; they used to have great customer service, but now it looks like they're going to turn into another company that can't be trusted, because the people with the authority to actually fix problems are beyond the reach of consumers.
