I've found some deeply repressed phobias just emerge from a total lack of proper sleep. My agoraphobia didn't exist prior and doesn't anymore, likely because I started getting proper rest again a few years back which also fixed my panic attacks. It was weird to just go into the mall and feel really anxious and nervous about it, to feel woozy and need to sit down when I hadn't ever had to deal with that in the past. It even happened when I played FFXI and camped HNMs - which was another subtle reason I didn't like doing that shit.

Funny thing is, I am insured with the VA. I have perfect health, bad eyesight, bad teeth, and I'm kinda crazy.

I have healthcare, but no eyecare, no dental, and no mental.

Though as a Veteran, I'm sure there are programs to benefit me out there that are either low or no cost. I just haven't had any episodes in a long time. Of course I know that doesn't mean that all of my problems are over, it just means that I've gotten a lot better about recognizing what sets me spiraling downwards.

My new Nissan Sentra has a drive-by-wire throttle that jumps from 0 to 4000 RPM whenever I look at the gas pedal. It's fucking annoying and there's nothing that can be done about it.

Video Gamers: Blowing game endings out of proportion since March 2012.

Even if everybody agreed some endings like the Mass Effect series did not meet the quality of the rest of the series, that's practically 20 minutes of a 110+ hour series. Just came across to me as an EA hate-fest (which- don't get me wrong- I'm sure its mostly deserved). But speaks nothing of things like smart phone or tablet games which are cheap, easily accessible, and don't require most Average Joes to own an additional console of any sort. I found it particularly cute the dude mentioned the success of Valve, seeing as Steam merely requires you to own a computer, something I would think most people would own anyway by now.

To be fair the beginning and ending of a piece of media tends to hold greater weight than the stuff in the middle. The ending is the last impression you get of the game, so it tends to be important.

That said, yes people are making mountains out of molehills.

He was actually dead-on about EA, but once he got past that part it was just so factually wrong the video kinda fell apart.

It would take a nuke squarely landing on Nintendo and anywhere they held money to remove them from the industry, they have a warchest that could keep them going for 70 more years just based on how they produce games right now. Meanwhile Sony is selling real-estate to cover its massive debts. Additionally, used games make up about a quarter of Gamestop annual revenue, they recently reported as much. that's a bit less than his anecdotal 75%.

I don't think there will be an industry crash so much as a AAA crash. Dead Space 3 and Resident Evil 6 are considered financial failures when they sell 5 million copies. Nintendo sells 400k+ copies of Fire Emblem Awakening between the US and Japan and it was already a success before it left Japan. Atlus and Xseed can sell 50K of a game and be fat and happy and indies can skew even lower than that. It didn't take much for VVVVVV and Super Hexagon to make their money back.

I think its fair to say you could make a successful RE game on the budget you had for the series back on the PSX. Silent Hill and RE did better back in the days they had less horsepower and less budgets to play with.
