At its peak hours its worse.
If it were Netflix, you wouldn't know the difference.
If you're playing online games you're fine.
If you're downloading demos or, worse, full games ranging from a 1.5 GB or more, it will take many times longer than it should.
The only reason to not notice it is if you're background downloading the stuff during a single-player game on PS3, but if you do anything online that download stops. If you're downloading to PSP, you're stuck watching a download bar - enjoy waiting three hours to DL FFVII. I don't know if you can background download on Vita, but I assume you could in Sleep Mode like 3DS does. Given Vita has so little to play downloading stuff to it shouldn't be so obvious.
At least they added more PSO Classics today. Quite a bit actually. So if you're DLing Final Fantasy stuff, you could be looking at a bit of downloading stuff.

I think the worst I got on Downloading was DCUO and it wasn't even that bad, it was the updating which I don't think runs through PSN's servers do they? Kinda like how you don't use Xbox's servers while on Playonline? Not really sure.Heavensward Stats - Main Story: Cleared | Alexander Normal: 4/4 | Alexander: Savage 0/4 | Relic: Last Resort (Scholar) | Mahatma: 2/12

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Got pulled over last night on my way home from work. Apparently I was speeding. I disagree... but that's a moot point. Here's a play-by-play of my night. Keep in mind that although it sucked... it's all resolved now and I'm over it. This isn't so much a vent as it is me sharing a rather entertaining story (provided it never happens to you) that should maybe encourage some of you to go check some stuff out yourselves. But I digress... on with the tale.
So as I said, I was pulled over for speeding and... like a good citizen... pulled right over to the side of the road and readied my license and registration for the cop. Mind you, I haven't been pulled over... much less ticketed since 2008. The cop gets to the window and takes my paper and license and wanders back to his car. That was when I posted to facebook what was happening and made the all too hopeful post that read "I hope they see my good driving record and let me off with a minimal fine or warning"... this was not the case.
In less time than it generally takes to write a ticket, the cop emerges at my window and tells me to step out of the car. Not a good sign. He them shows me my registration... more specifically the expiration date of 09/12. Fantastic. He then further explains to me that due to it being unregistered, he has no choice but to tow it (roughly 0.1 miles up the street). He then briefs me on what to do next and how exactly to go about it.
Step 1: Obtain a certified RMV-3 Renewal form authorized by my insurance company.
Step 2: Obtain a certified receipt of payment from the jurisdiction in which the offense committed tonight occurred
Step 3: Head to the RMV to submit both of those papers along with the money required to renew my registration (in this case $45.00 for my shitty little truck.
Step 4: Return to the Police station of the district in which last night's offense occurred to present them with the new registration and obtain from them a Tow Release form.
Step 5: Present the Tow Release form to the towing company that is currently detaining my truck and pay them the $127.00 "hook and tow" fee for effectively bringing my truck to the end of the street.
Step 6: Drive my truck home.
So after the cop made sure I knew what to do, he asked me if I'd rather pay the Tow Truck driver $150.00 at his shop to have him tow the truck right to my house right now and have it put in my driveway. I declined when he told me that it would only be $127.00 if I simply came and got it the following day with all the proper forms. Bad move. Don't make this mistake if you're ever in this scenario.
After the tow driver peddled down the street with my truck, the Cop must have taken in that I was being funny, light-hearted and generally not a pain in the ass about any of it, because he ripped up the speeding violation I had in my hands and told me he's reduce the $150.00 registration fine to $100.00. He even asked me if I wanted a ride to the I-hop down the street. I accepted and got to go for a pretty sweet cop car ride in the cage. Turns out these cops go to the I-hop all the time. Incidentally so do I, and the manager there happens to be buddy buddy with is also a close friend of mine. When they found out we were good friends, the nicer of the 2 cops cut me an even bigger break. Since it was 3:30am and nobody I knew was going to be willing to come and get me at that hour, I settled down to charge my phone on my laptop and regale my bud with the story while the cop offered to call in a favor from a Taxi Company he was on good terms with and get me a ride home. I happily finished my free coffee, took the cop up on his offer and accepted the free cab ride that would normally have run me $50.00.
In the end, I got home at 6:00am and crawled into bed after calling my Administration office at work to notify them that I was sick and would not be coming into work in the morning.
Today I got up, called my insurance company first thing and they emailed me a copy of the release form I need, stamped and certified as requested. After filling it out, I logged into the MassDOT website and payed my fine online to avoid having to go to the police station twice in the same day. I'm writing this now, as I'm about to head out the door to go to the RMV to present them with the papers and re-register my Truck. Accompanying me will be my mother, who happens to think this whole incident is really quite funny. I'll be needing her to drive me anyway, as I can't drive home 2 cars at once when I go to get the Truck.
In total:
$127.00 Hook and Tow Fee
$100.00 Fine for driving with and expired registration
$45.00 to re-register the truck
You guys remember all that money I was just talking about having made yesterday from ebay sales? Forget I said anything at all, lol.
I hope you enjoyed the story! Tune in later to read about the riveting adventures I'm likely to have had at the RMV. WHAT FUN!!!

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I have never heard of a vehicle being towed for no registration - I got pulled over for that once in like 2007 and they just gave me a $200 ticket and told me to get my registration fixed by X date and then take it to N place to prove I got it fixed.
That's fucking lame dude.sigpic

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Massachusetts state RMV laws. Driving with an expired registration is subject to tow away. The trick is, you're safe until you get pulled over.

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
One of the few people I still enjoy working with is scheduled for her last day on Saturday. She's leaving to join the Navy and was planning to leave next weekend, but her ship date was pushed up so she has to finish out this week and go.
I has a sad.
I also has a jealous, because I wish I were leaving, too. Lol.sigpic

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
In an attempt to diversify my news sources, I subscribed to Al Jazeera English, Russia Today, and The Wall Street Journal on youtube, in addition to SourceFed and The Young Turks. These channels all produce 5-15 videos a day, so my feed is completely inundated by them, and the channels I'm subscribed to that produce 3 videos a week or fewer get buried and never seen. And of course, there's no way to sort or categorize the channels, so the only way I can make the information manageable is by clicking each subscription individually and checking them all one by one. All like three dozen of them. Come on, youtube. You're smarter than this. There's no excuse for this garbage interface.
Plus the feed itself doesn't even leave enough room for the full video titles, so I can't even know what they're about without clicking on them. Just all sorts of fail. It's been like this for a long time, but it's especially annoying me lately.

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Very, very minor peeve that I've touched upon before, but I want to brain dump:
Usage of the word "pride".
My College's QSA held a "pride day" yesterday, which, much like most other student organized events, mostly consisted of lines of tables with informational leaflets upon them from varying sources, some source of snackage (in this case, snow cones), and brazenly loud pop music (there were a couple of people who danced to Gagnam Style when it came on). Once it came time for everyone to pack up and leave, I followed the remaining people to a QSA meeting, wherein the feature presentation was a "History of Pride" slideshow (which, in retrospect, mostly just divided itself into pre-Stonewall, Stonewall, and post-Stonewall). Now, by all means they were all pretty awesome people (and actually included more straight people than you might've expected), and I'm completely for their cause, but the entire time there was something nagging in the back of my head, wanting to say
"You keep using that word . . ."
Reflecting upon it (and the main impetus for wanting to brain dump), I realize that my only squabble with LGBT "Pride" is one of pure semantics. "Pride" doesn't succinctly identify its purpose.
What these people are really looking for is "lack of shame."
Of course, it's a popular fallacy to equate the two concepts as one and the same when they really aren't, and I'm not entirely certain how well "lack of shame" marches would've caught on, but still. The false equivalence yet vexes me (pride is arguably a major cause of shame), though at least I now have a fresh insight into what is really meant.Originally posted by ArmandoNo one at Square Enix has heard of Occam's Razor.Originally posted by ArmandoNintendo always seems to have a legion of haters at the wings ready to jump in and prop up straw men about hardware and gimmicks and casuals.Originally posted by TaskmageGOD IS MIFFED AT AMERICA

Not to bitch or anything, but ... nevermind, that's exactly what I'm doing. How did this "real life" topic get three pages of Minecraft posts in it?
You guys should probably start a new thread.
