I'm so sick of trying to troubleshoot networking issues. It always ends up with me just calling the part time guy in the other office who actually knows networking because I don't know jack shit about networking.

"Here, fix this problem related to something you have absolutely no understanding of...again."

If you need me to be the networking guy for this office then maybe you should spend some of those training resources on getting me some honest-to-god network training instead of blowing it all on those worthless Microsoft certification exams you make me keep taking.

Rule #1 is working in any office is never be a dick to the IT guy. Things go so much easier when the IT guy has no reason to spite you.

I have also been the IT guy and people being a dick to me usually results in me using these three words: "Working as intended"

I don't really have that luxury.

It's a company that does IT work, so a lot of the folks know enough that I couldn't BS them like that. There's also the fact that there's only a handful of people in this office so I can't sweep it under the rug or foist the problem off on someone else. Also also: you don't pull that kind of stuff with the CEO who you see on a daily basis because your cubicle is literally 20ft from his office.

It's really just a dingy hole in the basement. It keeps all the sunlight out though, so that's a plus.
