Video Game demos that have a time limit on how long you get to play.

I downloaded Uno from the PS3 store and installed it. I started to play for about 1 minute then my son starts crying. I go to investigate and he lost ihs favorite ball. After a few minutes of searching with him(aka he looks in the same places I do...kids are so cute) "we" find it balled up in his covers. I get back to the game and have less than a minute left to play...

The Uno demos seem to all be horrible. I downloaded the lite version for iphone and got about 1/3 of the way through a hand and it ended.

Yeah. Where I live in California there are a lot of smokers and rude ones at that. It seems I have the exact opposite situation to Yyg which is why its hard for me to feel smokers are "harassed" or "demonized". They particuliarly feel its their right to smoke in public areas of high traffic like right outside the doors of every building I have to enter. Both my neighbors smoke so I can't enjoy the outdoors of my house (mobile home) often times. Like I said amusement parks are hell for me since I always get stuck behind a smoker that won't stop and I have to leave the line while they laugh and thier large group of friends heckle me for "having an attitude problem".

I basically feel that non-smokers seem to be the minority where I live at least.

Then this wouldn't have made you quit earlier, it would've just pissed you off...

No if the right people would have come forward and expressed their concern and got vocal and even broke some cigarettes, it would have made me think. Once the thought is planted, it grows and maybe I would have quit sooner. But I didn't, c'est la vie.

When I quit it was cold turkey. I had spinal surgery and the bone was not healing. My surgeon told me straight up that the cigarettes were preventing enough oxygen getting to the bone and if I didn't stop smoking that I could end up paralyzed. I was already in massive pain, in a body cast from neck to thigh, and still having the nurses roll me out to smoke a couple times a day. After that, orders were issued that I was not to be wheeled outside......so I went myself. Because of an accident on my way out to smoke, on my own, I had to have surgery again. There was no more leaving to smoke again after that and I never had another cigarette again. My mother just found out several months ago that she has emphysema. She has smoked for over 60 years and she quit cold turkey. Her generation remembers emphysema well and I have known thats something that she's very afraid of. The day I had to tell her she had it was one of the worst days of my life.......the fear and horror on her face pierced my soul. It might relax you, it might make you look cool, you might even like the taste, etc but in the end those fucking things have the last laugh 90% of the time.

And FYI, when a fat person sits at another table in a restaurant and eats a piece of cake, the calories do not sneak across to me and glom onto my body. When a person jaywalks and I see it, I am not ticketed for not doing anything about it. But when I'm in a room with 1+ smokers and have to endure their habit, there is a very real possibility that I may get cancer and die. I should not have to endure someone smoking right outside a buildings entrance, or in a meeting, or anywhere I may have to go during my day. If you want to kill/harm yourself then be my guest, I did it for over 20 years. But if you think its your right so subject other people to harm, thats where I take a stand. I too have endured a LOT of angry smokers. They blow smoke my way in a segregated restuarant. I even heard a guy ask a waitress for a specific table and after he sat down he said to his friend "I like sitting right on the border of smoking and non-smoking so I can chain smoke and blow it right over to where they are eating." Unfortunately I was right on the other side of the border in non-smoking and one booth down from him. Or people that stand right outside the door to where they work and smoke so that the people that come into the building have to walk through their haze. Or worse yet, not even outside, they stand right inside the first set of doors and smoke (which is illegal) because "its too cold outside". And the smokers that constantly rag on the new laws that won't let them smoke anywhere they want to. Get the fuck over it, and grow the fuck up....you have no right to endanger my life for your habit.

I respect people that abide by the law, I respect people decisions that they want to smoke as long as they respect that I do not want to be included in their smoking, and I really respect young people that never have smoked and have decided they never will. There is enough shit out there in the world looking to kill you, do you really want to help it along?

Dealing with completely unnecessary family drama right now. Really, if it has to come to it within my family I generally would prefer to be the target of their anxieties, but my sister has yet again decided to make the big bridge-burning effort with family members again.

She wants to move in with her boyfriend and rather than break down my family by psychology, let's just say when my sister doesn't get her way via approval, she burns bridges instead. I've told her she's going to destroy every shred of credibility her boyfriend has with our parents if this happens. I've told her that's unfair to him and to our parents.

I don't want her living here, really, she leaves this place in a total fucking mess all the time. I wanted to get a Wii for the living room a long time ago, but she has so much shit laying around on the floor and no where else to store it that i cannot bring myself to do it until she leaves.

I need to find a way to corner the boyfriend and have a little chat with him about the consequences he's going to face here. I like the guy and, knowing my sister, I know she's really the one pushing her agenda here. The problem is he's not resisting and not seeing things from my parents' perspective. Yes, they're uptight, super-moral conservative Christians - that's true - but its not like they don't have other reasons.

Let's just say there's a distinct pattern at play between the kinds of relationships my mother burned down/formed and how my sister does it. She's following it to the letter and becoming like my mother, which was the first family member she cut off years ago. Now it looks like father and Step-mother are up next.

And I've told her I've picked up on what my parents are probably thinking. They didn't put me up to telling her what I've warned her about. I just know the pattern and it bothers me.

She can do what she wants, she's grown-up, but if she thinks I'm going to play the mover for this, she can think again.

But who's going to be the one she tries to talk to when she can't get them to speak to her?

Me. Its always me. My mom pissed off everyone else in the existing family, I'm all she has, too.

Tread lightly Kitten. Having a conversation with the b/f could just add more fuel to the fire and get some unnecessary volleys of fire sent your way. The best way not to get sucked into your family's web is to distance yourself from the entire mess.

Ahhh yes, family drama:

My grandparents are 90 years old and up until around christmas they were still kicking pretty well. Somewhere along the line, my grandparents stopped taking their blood pressure medicine and had been off for at least 3 weeks according to my grandmother although it is possible it was longer than that. While they were off their meds my grandfather got dizzy, fell, and injured his hand and both his legs. When my dad found out, he called their doctor and they said that they hadn't seen either of them almost over a year.

Anyhow, my dad was pissed when he found out they hadn't been taking their meds because they let their perscription run out and he started going over there to take care of them. My grandfather's feet and hand swole up so badly that he couldn't walk. Since this was during the holiday my grandmother said that they wouldn't be going to the doctor until after the start of the new year even though my dad's doctor said he could get them in immediately and give them some meds to tide them over until their doctor gives them a new perscription.

The next week my dad called a vising physician to come out and see them. Eventually my grandmother got tired of my grandfather being confined to the bed and told my dad that she wanted him OUT! My dad said that the decision wasn't up to him and he'd have to wait for the doctor put him in either the hospital or a nursing home to get better. My grandma got pissed then called the doctor and told them she wanted him out of there, to which they replied that they couldn't do it by her say so. (My dad has power of attourney and the other thing, I forget the name. Basically they can't go over or around him without his say so.) Eventually the doctor said that he was going to send my grandfather to the hospital for awhile.

Almost every family has a "Black Sheep" or a type similar in it, and mine just happens to be my dad's niece who my grandmother adopted as her daughter. She has been conspiring with my grandmother to set everybody else in the family up against my dad. Why? I DO NOT KNOW! After my grandfather went to the hospital, my grandmother called and said that the bank called and asked her if my dad was actually supposed to be cashing my grandfather's checks on their account. My dad knows that the bank didn't call because if they did, they wouldn't have done it after cashing 2 checks, they would've done it way before that. My dad decided to play a trick on her and called back telling her that he had called the bank and they told him that NOBODY was allowed to cash ANY checks on their account and that it was now frozen .

Seriously in the last few weeks it has gotten really bad. My grandmother called my dad's ex-wife, who is my sister's mother, telling her that she is her ONLY daughter-in-law (Apparently my mom doesn't count for some reason?) and that my dad is the biggest betrayer of all time. My grandma called me with that mess one day and I told my dad that he was now public enemy #1 on her list lol.

TL;DR: Family backstabbers, old people being old, stupid people being stupid, MFWTF, and Y U DO DAT?

Peeve for the day: People who want to kill themselves and feel the need to take their unknowing families with them.

The big problem in my family is my sister. She's now disabled from nearly dying from a brain anuerism 10 years ago and married a drunk just because his parents had money. Now they lost all of their money, my sister refuses to jump through the hoops of the state to keep her disability going, and now is loosing her house. I tried to help her but either she or her husband, who is her court appointent "guardian" basically, block me at every turn.

In her mind the solution to the whole thing is money.... I'm caring for my parents, working 2 jobs and we are still scrapping by on their social security right now mostly and can't give her money so to her that means we don't love her.

Yeah... I have enough of a headache with elderly parents and she makes it worse. Like Grandmom says, for my sanity, I just had to throw my hands up. She made her bed and now has to lay in it and reep the consequences so I left her to ruin her life by herself.

I really feel for your family. My mother and my husbands parents are elderly. It seems as some people age they regress. Its like you have to babysit them, they just seem to make stupid decisions that you know they would not have done 10 years earlier. My mother has emphysema, monitoring her meds (she over medicates with other peoples meds and OTC meds too) and trying to get her to the doctor is insanely difficult. I am the bad guy too. I'm the educated daughter so my sisters feel I should be her health advocate. They push everything off on me to explain to her and then she gets mad at me. So then they pat her on the back and go "oh mom, I know how it feels..." so that they look sympathetic and are the "good" daughters. If it weren't for me, she'd probably be dead already. /sigh

Your grandmother is a wise woman. You need to think of yourself first, your immediate family next, and then help out any relatives; IF you choose to. It sounds like your sister wants people to take care of her without any effort on her part and thats just not how life works.
