Fucking AC cord for my laptop broke. Every store sells a replacement for thirty or fifty bucks. Except Amazon. There I just pay more for shipping. Either way, my laptop is down for a bit again.

At least I still have my iPhone so I don't miss anything of E3. It's a bitch to blog on this thing though.

If you can get your hands on a soldering iron, this sort of thing isn't too hard to fix.

And again, a zombie can degrade and fall apart as long as it infects one or more people before becoming nonfunctional, and there's clearly a tremendous amount of tissue damage they can sustain without it bothering them much.

Sure, I don't disagree. I'm just saying that if you hold them up to the conservation of energy principle, it shouldn't be long before a zombie starts falling apart when deprived of food, and once it's falling apart it shouldn't pose much of a threat to anyone healthy.

If it's a magical zombie then yeah you're pretty fucked.

I still say realistically zombies can't sustain themselves long. If you recon they don't sleep then they'll last even less time since they're not getting any time to regenerate and they're exerting themselves more often on top of that..

You can also add weather effects to that, as I'd imagine freezing weather would pose a huge challange to them, along with rain. Their bodies would freeze.

Rain would just help them fall apart faster, and so on.

Pretty sure it's not fixable. It broke right at the end of the connector. Don't have a soldering iron, but I guess I could check and see if my dad does.

EDIT: seems he does. Guess I'll swing by tonight a get it fixed if it can be.

This'll help. If it broke at the end that connects to the computer then it's going to be tough, if it broke on the side of the power supply (which is what I usually see) you should be fine. The bulk of the soldering work is in step 4. I've done this twice now and while your power supply may not look pretty afterwards, it beats buying a new one.

EDIT: Also, if you've never soldered before, you might want to read this too. Basically boils down to keeping the tip of the iron tinned, applying flux and heating the cable instead of the solder.

Yeah, the break is too close to the pin to be fixable, not going to watse anyone's time with it

And just as I get the conference stream for Sony loaded up on my phone, my ISP decides to tinker with the tower and my connection is gone. I could use my 3G, but the conference isn't worth maxing my data cap for.

But what kind of boundaries can the zombie infection cross? Could they infect organisms on a micrological scale that would eventually trickle up back into our own ecosystems???

It is a blood-born pathogen... so I suppose that Manhattan's insects... primarily their mosquitoes... would eventually migrate back to the mainland and infect us from beyond the confines of the island's natural defenses.

Woke up this morning to the smell of something burning in the kitchen. Not a happy start. That coincided with the beginning of a 5 hour maint on the Diablo servers, so now I have to face my life, which is probably a good thing but that doesn't make me like it.

Good choice. Pie sticks well. Might I suggest Lemon Marang? If for no other reason than comic relief.
