Foreign Nursing agency staff.

I asked one to go around and make drinks for the patients and visitors. I looked and spotted them with one teapot. Upon inspection they put the teabags, Coffee powder, milk and sugar all in one pot with the water. Um HELLO we have Diabetic patients on this ward also I'm sure people would like tea OR coffee, not both at the same time.

I've even spotted one trying to open the soft drinks vending machine thinking it was a fridge.
The NHS is doomed!
They cost the NHS double what they pay me for one shift, They don't speak or read english very well.
Hell to the no if I'm going to allow you to dispense meds on my watch. So in turn it makes my job ALOT longer when I'm taking on the tasks of 2 other nurses.
I'm by no means a racist some of the best nurses I've worked with are of indian origin and the Philippenes.
It just amazes me how some of these qualified yet they rake in double my pay by causing me alot of stress.
I imagine where they are originally from the tables would be turned and I'd be the one seen as incompetant.
But I take my job seriously and never would compromise the safety of my patients in that manner.

Apologies if any of you are nurses in the Uk from abroad. But I'd imagine you've also worked with the types I've mentioned

My father's "real life is going to bite you in the ass" speeches. Basically I'll be minding my own business, playing some video game and he'll come in and start asking if it's teaching me life skills or something I can sell in the workplace. Then he'll start pontificating about how "real life" is going to sneak up on me and give me a rude wake up call or some shit.
It's gotten to the point where I can just hear him start to use a certain tone or inflection and I'll just zone him out, pretend like he's not there until he leaves.
If you want to have a conversation then do so, but don't come in and start lecturing on how I'm doomed to failure or whatever. You've been pulling that shit for nearly 20 years and it's as untrue now as it was then.

Bums who have better electronics than I do... I go to work fairly early so I have seen a large group of the professionally homeless gather at the QFC(kroger) Starbucks before they head out to beg change/food/drugs, etc... They all have awesome phones... one dude (at least) has a very very nice Ipod, and headphones several tiers above mine. If I get up early enough, some can be found piling out of a 2005+ sedan, to chane out of regular clothes and into trash-wear... it's amazing... I'm not saying all homeless do this by any means ... I've just been living and working around this particular group of society's cream of the crop for years now and have gotten to know their ways... It's simply mind boggling.

I have an issue with my current phone number. The husband refuses to get a new number (because he's too lazy to give it out to everyone). My problem is that when we moved to this house we were given our current number. Almost immediately we started receiving calls for a "Grace". We were assuming that the calls were from bill collectors because of their aggressive nature:

Caller: Is Grace there?
Me: No, I'm sorry but you must have the wrong number.
Caller: This is Grace isn't it?
Me: Um...no. There is no Grace at this number or address. In fact, I don't even have a family member or friend named Grace so I have NO idea who you are talking about.
Caller: We need to talk to Grace, can you put her on the phone?

That was the beginning and as time went on the calls became more frequent and eventually quite nasty. But I gleaned from each call any information I could until eventually I got the right bill collector on the line. I told her the basics that I knew about this Grace and how this really wasn't her number and that we were being harassed by many calls. She told me her full name and her address. My teeth nearly fell out...and no I don't wear dentures! The woman lived in the same small town and on the same damn street two blocks down! Since hubby wouldn't let me change the number, I compiled a list of calls and all the pertinent information, walked my ass down to her house, and knocked on her door. I gave her the notebook, a piece of my mind, and a warning about using our number. It still happens about once a month which is WAY better than it was before.

So ya, the whole phone issue is a HUGE peeve of mine.

I used to get a lot of calls for some guy with a soap opera-villain sounding name like Dario or Damien or something like that. I would get messages saying "the item you requested has arrived" and "your girls are ready" and such.

Similar situation, but it was our own fault: My dad used to play around with CB Radios and he was going to start up a business to repair them. Well, he registered our phone number as "Ray's Radio Mart" in the phonebook. I think he was trying to set up a freelance/"under the table" business, but after thinking more about the situation, he decided against the business since the IRS may come after him. So without ever fixing one radio he closed the business down, however for the next few years we got calls all the time for "Ray's Radio Mart". The funny thing is that the calls have finally slowed down witin the last 10 years, we might get 1-2 calls a month if that many for it. We just tell them "This is a residence and there is no business at this number."

The messages were always vague in the stereotypical way that you would expect shady people to communicate. They may as well have said "On the third night bring the item to the predetermined place. Don't forget our agreement."

My current project at work. They want me to implement some new functionality for this software(Visual Fusion) that goes on top of Sharepoint. That's fine, I like coding things.

What I don't like, is working with things I don't know jack shit about.

I do not know enough about Sharepoint's internal structure to pull this off. Hell I barely have any real experience with the Sharepoint front end, let alone figuring out the backend.
I don't know XAML.
I don't know ASP.NET
I don't know XML
I kind of know C#
I certainly don't know enough about how they all fit together.
I don't know where to even start with this damn thing.

Seriously, it's been about a week and I'm still struggling to get the damn development environment set up. God only knows how I'm gonna get a basic Hello World example done if I can't even set this thing up.
Oh, they also decided it was a good idea to put the whole damn thing on a 64-bit machine. You know, just stuff a whole bunch of software that sometimes goes looking for 32-bit dll files on a 64 bit machine and not have a 32 bit installation nearby so I can't even really attempt to patch the thing together.
It's a huge clusterfuck and I really think it's reaching the point where I need to tell my boss that this thing is not happening.
