Anyway, in line with my response about speed limits...
How do they determine who makes these and how they enforce them anyway? Near me, there is a county highway where the speed limit is 50. I regularly go 60 down it and I'm one of the slower drivers on that road. I think cops catch some people just to make examples of them (even though people only slow down for the mile stretch where they see the cop pull over).
Closer to my house, there are 2 roads, one with a speed limit of 25, the other with 35. It's crazy because 25 feels way too slow for that road, to the point of frustration at how much you're tapping the breaks as opposed to the gas pedal. God, the cops love that road. And the road with 35 mph speed limit is incredibly thin in a residential neighborhood and it winds a lot. I don't even think 2 large cars going in the opposite direction can squeeze passed each other without one going off the road. When I'm on it, my natural instinct is to go on it at only 25 mph. I think somebody must've mixed those 2 roads up.
To be fair, it isn't the nicest neighborhood. There have been some break-ins lately and I hear there's drug dealers in the apartment complex, but it's not like a slum. The kids are more likely to get hurt in the car ride over to a park or a school than picked up off the street by one of these predators that are supposedly everywhere.
As long as you're teaching your kids correctly (ie: only take candy from strangers if it's really good candy) that guy needs to be reminded that if they're not your kids... shut up already.
For the record... I would like to add a special dispensation to the "good candy" rule. Fruit Stripes Gum is an honorary mention to the "good" category. It might only last 10 seconds... but those are 10 seconds of epic gumchewing excellence.
Plus, you live there, so it's like, so long property values.
Don't even get me started on what Yyg did to his neighborhood's net worth by moving in.
Fun fact: The neighborhood itself is great. The house next door to us however... in the time it took us to close and move into our place... it became vacant and is now condemned lol.
Apparently they people who left never had the water shut off and the pipes froze/burst causing incredible amounts of damage throughout the house.
Asthetically it looks just fine from the outside. The only thing that makes it clear the place is abandoned is the little red piece of paper on the front door that signifies "enter at your own risk".
I've been trying to bring the property values down by breaking into neighboring houses to drive my mortgage underwater so I can get government assistance.
Everything that From Software has been doing lately with regards to the "Announcement for fans of Dark Souls".
Great, a PC version is in the works.
Great, it's got additional content that sounds freaking awesome.
Now there's griping about it being a straight port, using GFWL, and locked at 30fps ... well, that's disappointing (apparently, Idk, I'm a console gamer). I think this crowd should be happy PC is getting the game at all. People are entitled to their gripes though.
The thing that is crappy, imHo, is that the director has just hinted that there are no plans to get the additional content to the console gamers who supported the Souls games thus far. PR blunder and it makes the actual fans feel as though we basically been fucked over. I'm tired of getting strung along.
We all do feel very appreciative that we're getting the game on the PC, but what people don't understand is that the PC crowd expects games to meet current standards. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are both about five years old now? And they used out-dated hardware at launch. They're weak and puny compared to even the low-end PCs of today, shit, even compared to some smart phones. We want games that make our computer fans scream.
On the flip side, a lot of PC gamers don't understand the development process one bit. Just to give their fans what they want they've probably stripped the budget for it and tossed in some DLC meant for consoles at a later time. The amount of work and effort just to make it stable on the PC is tremendous, and most people ask for more without realizing that they've already asked for so much.
This is why ports really ought to not happen. Either design the game from the start with the intention of putting it on multiple platforms, or tailor it for a specific platform that complements it. What devs should be extremely hesitant to do is to take an already published game and try to rework it for a completely different platform. That only ends in tears.

Actually, it's pretty simple to move a title from the Xbox 360 to the PC. The problem is, the PC isn't quite the money-maker the consoles are. A lot of companies will put emphasis on their best-selling platforms, then port the Xbox 360 build to the PC for a quick buck. Of course this isn't how all companies do it; DICE builds from the top down, and their console games will always look better than anybody building from the bottom up like Infinity Ward.
I would think the difference in control scheme alone would make for a pretty big gap in the game design when porting. Mouse and keyboard tends to be a very different input experience than a controller. When you start out designing for one and not the other I'd imagine you make different design choices accordingly and that can ultimately make the game ill-suited to make the jump. Clearly it can be done, as there are a fair number of games that have pulled it off successfully, but there's also plenty of games that have just turned out to be an absolute pile of ass when ported to the PC.
Here's a quiz question for all of you computer-building folks like myself that's related to my peeve today:
So I get home from work yesterday, plug in my surge protector and go to work hooking up my rig in the freshly painted office. I get all the plugs in, mount the tower and turn the PC on. It boots up as it should and I can hear the power supply running, the disc drive spinning my copy of Skyrim and all the other appropriate sounds to indicate that everything is in working order.
I noticed it was taking a while for the monitors to kick on, so I gave it a few minutes to get itself together and without fail, the monitors kicked on and the windows log-in appeared. I managed to type the first 2 characters to my password before the screen froze and wouldn't allow me to do anything else. It stayed this way for 5 minutes before I ultimately decided to shut it down again.
Figuring that it needed a jump start, I unhooked it all, opened her up and cycled the ram for the hell of it. I also took this time to make sure all my connections were there and that nothing was loose.
Keeping the cover off, I powered it back up and cleared my nose for the possible horrifying smell of burned electronics that would indicate that I fried something. No smell... a good sign.
However, now I'm not even getting the windows log in.
Shut down. Remove all 4 ram chips. Insert one at a time. Attempt to log in once with each of them to determine which one might be causing the problem. Nothing. Not even a BIOS screen. Now I'm stressed.
Everything appears to be working the way it should. All the lights are on, power supply, fan... (since the windows came on at least once) video card.
What the hell am I missing? What am I not doing?
I hope to god that while transporting it from house to house, I didn't cross wires and fry my motherboard. If I did, there will be hell to pay... HELL I TELL YOU!
Anyone?
