I never even noticed that... I just hit the link to reply.

It's totally worth a co-pay to see a doctor for back pain, imo. It might be nothing ... but if it's not, you'll really want to deal with it earlier than later.

      Pet Peeve Today!

I went to the grocery store, since food was running low in the house. I had gotten everything I needed and was all set, I had my card in hand ready to swipe, blam and be done with everything. Here is the kicker.

A lady is in front of me, her cart is full to the brim with food (like any other shopper) but she has three kids who are there, one of them appeared to be in their early teen years (15-17) and she was on her iPod. The other two were children. Looked about 7-8 years of age. One of them was screaming, the eldest was bumping to music and then another one had an issue with wanting candy. At the same time, mommy was putting things on the conveyer belt, but doing so in a very slow irritating manner, she kept asking the cashier if things were discounted in her cart. When our store TELLS YOU underneath the product with a big red tag (this is so much % off today). The guy was obviously frustrated and was like "No ma'am." Then she decides to get out of line and go into the aisles to grab the "discounted product" I told myself, "Screw the rules I play XI." I furiously ripped her cart out of the aisle like an angry Galka and told the cashier, "If you so much as complain that she was in line before me I swear to god, I am a black mage and I will cast some worldly shit on you if you so much as tell me to wait my turn." The guy freaked out, rang me up and I was on my way out the door. Oh and when I ripped the cart out the kids freaked out, the teenager gave me a dirty look and one of the kids was like, "That's my mom's cart!" Told him, "Move your feet, lose your seat." Other one was still drooling over candy.

Lesson Here: If your going to make someone wait for you, do it in a manner where you can play it off. Now what would you do? Would you wait for her to return and for her to be rang out or would you use your inner Warrior Beserk skill and do what I did?

I hate those types of people, I think I have complained about the same very thing before. I mean seriously, why get in line if you don't have everything you need?

Today at work instead of asking if somebody was for resuscitation I ended asking "does she have reraise?" and was met by some very odd looks.

I've been out wandering, at the mall I walked by two women fighting over a child, as though the kid was an item. I'm guessing this is a mom vs. stepmom thing and a bitter divorce or breakup is part of it, but two grown adults being like that ... Damn, you just don't know how harmful that is to the child.

Mall security was on top of it thankfully, but if I was hoping to see the security guy smack the both of them and ask what thier major malfunction was.

My two trainees are fucking awful.

First of all, we're dispatchers. We type. 99% of the time I'm at work, I am typing - radio traffic or information phoned in - I am typing. These people, they don't talk like we're kindergartners, they speak like we're adults, and we type at the speed people talk. I'm a very fast typist, I realize this, but damn. These guys make me look like the Flash of typing.

So what I want to know is why we hired these two people who can't fucking type!?!?! They can't copy the transmissions, they can barely keep up! A typical contact over the radio last thirty seconds from the time the officer keys into Operations and until the Operator copies back their information. These guys were taking several minutes for one. Several. Minutes. Holy. Shit.

I'm sorry, I'm doing the best I can and I'm a good trainer, but I can't turn shit into lemonade. We just got this new boss and I'm eager to prove myself but I've been set up to fail with these two. This was day five (of fourteen) of their training, they should be able to take a radio by now. They can't. It's ridiculous. I'm so fucking frustrated with the whole thing right now that I don't even want to continue wasting my time with them. They're not going to pass training and we never should have hired either of them.

This reminds me of our school systems. When so many people expect teachers to turn children from lead into gold I think we'd be better off hiring alchemists.

Some people just aren't cut out for certain lines of work. It'd be nice if more people could realize that, both the person doing the job and the person in charge of them. I know I'm not cut out for pretty much any job that involves public speaking. It's just something that makes me terribly uncomfortable and I'm not at all good at it. In fact I am very bad at it. It's like you say Aks, you can't turn shit into lemonade, so you should send the shit back and ask for some lemons instead.

Peeve: I'm all hopped up on painkillers now as per the doctor's orders, but I'm a tad concerned that a triple dose of Ibuprofen might be causing some problems of its own. It's rough on my stomach and I've had weird pumping pain sensations in my chest. I think I'm gonna dial it back to a double dose, because this is kind of scary.

Related peeve: My doctor told me I need to sleep on my back. I sleep on my stomach. I have always slept on my stomach. Always. I tried sleeping on my back over the weekend and was awake until at least six in the morning. I tried sleeping on my back last night and was awake at 1, and intermittently waking up the rest of the night until I gave up and slept on my stomach. Sleeping on my stomach is apparently bad for my back, but I think getting absolutely no sleep whatsoever is probably worse for me overall and probably worse for my back too.

Those exercises had better help me get this under control, because if the back pain gets worse once I have to stop taking the painkillers I am going to be unable to get anything done at work.

I used to suffer from back pain like you, then I took... never mind. <_<

Truth to be told back when I was young I always had a lot of trouble sleeping on a mattress, they always caused me back pain and uncomfortable nights no matter the type. Then I noticed I slept the best when camping, meaning sleeping on the hard cold floor on my sleeping bag. So, I switched to sleeping on a futon, first on the floor, then on a wooden base. This was back when I was like 13 or something.

Haven't had a bad night's sleep since, nor have I had any back pain whatsoever.

But then again I sleep on my side or on my back, no idea if a futon will help someone sleeping on his stomach.

I'm with you, Ray, on finding something firm to sleep upon... but a futon is one of the worst beds you could possibly sleep on when you have back pain. If you go in to see any health care professional for back pain and tell them you sleep on a futon, their first suggestion will be to get a different bed.

I've had pros telling me the same thing, but considering I haven't suffered from any back problems whatsoever in all these years I'm strongly inclined to reject those claims about futons.

And I've even managed to convert a couple of people with back problems and they report similar results, so I dunno. After all the way I see it humans didn't evolve sleeping in beds, but on the floor.

                              If you are suffering from back problems anyway might as well give it a try. It's not like your spine is going to snap into two if you rest on the floor once or twice. <_<;

PS > And when I happen to sleep in a hotel it's pretty much guaranteed I'll have some sort of discomfort after the 2nd night sleeping on a regular bed. XD

Sleeping the floor doesn't sound all that bad honestly. Lying down on the floor seems to be better on my back than laying on my bed, so maybe my mattress is just too soft or something. I still need to figure out how to fall asleep on my back though, that's gonna be the hard part.
