Did you do what I did one time and wired up the power and reset buttons the wrong way around? Took me a while to figure that one out.

On the plus side it worked as the best PC security measure ever. Every time my family tried to use the PC they would try to turn it on then assume I unplugged it and/or turned off the PSU. As a result, it was one of the most "healthy" PCs I've ever had as I was the only one who knew how to turn it on.

Nah, it gets power but there's no output and manual shut off doesn't seem to work. Also the case's manual fan control didn't work, but after giving up on the whole thing in frustration last night I realized that was probably due to the fact that I didn't bother to connect it to a power supply.

I suspect it's just the video card not being seated properly. I hope that's all it is. That better be all this is, because I do not want to have to troubleshoot each individual component.

The thing that really bugs me about this, is that this is going to be a Christmas present for my best friend. I want the damn thing to work properly so I can actually give it to him.


Cool trick with the power switch. I can never tell if I'm plugging those things in correctly since there's never anything in the documentation of the case or the motherboard covering it.

No output? To the monitor? Possible problems could involve the monitor not set to the right input, or the GPU being dead, damaged, or not seated properly. You could try using output from the motherboard to see if it's indeed the GPU.

If you're attempting to shut the computer off with one of the buttons, you may need to hold it down for about 5 seconds.

Clearing the CMOS can also help. Since there's a good chance it is some bad configuration that's preventing your computer from recognizing the <insert video output device>.

Then again, clearing the CMOS is the first thing you do when installing a motherboard so you may have already done that. <_<;

Well I've ruled out the video card, seeing as how the one I keep around for testing in this exact situation has no output either. There's no onboard video card either, so I'm hoping the ancient CRT I'm using to set this thing up has just died while I wasn't looking. If I can't get this working soon I may just throw up my hands and take it to Microcenter to let them throw it together. I really don't need this headache during my vacation time.

Huh, apparently there is an onboard video output for this motherboard. Too bad it doesn't display anything. I'm chalking this up to being a motherboard issue. I really don't feel like driving to the store to get a new motherboard and doing the whole thing over again. This feels like defeat, but fuck it I'm gonna just have Microcenter throw it together for me this time.

VPN was working for me last Thursday. Monday morning, it no longer works. Wednesday morning, email goes out to the masses from the bossman asking employees to work from home between Christmas and the new year to save on building utility costs.

The benefits lady in HR is an evil bitch who is so far removed from the going-ons of the agency. They should fire her robust ass so somebody more competent and less robotic can take her place watching a computer screen all day.

Status update: The folks at Microcenter confirmed my suspicions, I had a borked motherboard. Oh, and they installed my power supply upside down, so I had to fix that when I got the thing home. It looks like it's going to work out ok though, so that's good.

16 hours at work on Christmas Eve. 16 hours at work on Christmas. All waking hours spent at work this weekend. Practically none of which were by choice.

Working over christmas /wrists

xmas day - 7am - 3pm. I have to be up at around 5 and on the first but to work at 6. Normally this is fine but there's no bus service on christmas day so it's taxi time and just my luck it "double time" so thats £25 spent before I've even got to work plus the same fare when I get home. so for 4 hours into my shift I've technically earned "NOTHING"!!!!

I had a patient cough all over me and now I'm displaying flu symptoms but can't call in sick we've already had the regular flaky people do that.
I wish murder was legal, colleagues like that deserve it !

I wish there was just a DAY just one day out of the year where you select just ONE person you want to murder and get away with it, that being said, you could be murdered as well, but it has its odds and ends.

If there was a day like that, the person you chose to kill should know that you are after them so they can defend themselves. But what's better is when you just shoot them with paintballs
