Sometimes he says treats a question too flippantly or says things off the cuff that are just wrong, but when he takes something seriously and goes to the trouble of reasoning through to a position, you can usually count on the result being solid.
My feelings exactly. Sometimes I read his column or an interview with him and I get irritated because it's clear that he's just giving a pat answer, or being flippant, and I'm like "People are going to take you seriously!"
I really hope I don't offend anybody with this but .....
Why is it whenever american tv people buy the rights to shows, It ends up being awful?
Mainly comedy programmes, I understand that cultural references are changed to suit the audience and I completely aggree with that. But so much gets changed it deviates far from what was intended and just ruins it
Skins
I don't know why that was changed so much. The only thing that really needed "updating" was things like the names of educational exams/examining bodies, slang, drug terminology.
The Office
It originally was filmed in the style of a documentary, one stateside it became all shiny and more like a sitcom.
The Inbetweeners
^^ see skins
Kath and Kim
I dont know why it wasn't just broadcast in it's original form.
Shameless
This one hurts the most. Upon being remade it's just not as gritty and "ghetto" as uk shameless.
The scripting is bad too. The delivery of lines is too artificial, I know they are actors but the charm of the british version is the delivery of the lines. Common people using common slang and phrases suited to the way of life of the british lowerclass. In the Us version the script delivery is very theatrical (cant really think of how to phrase it" it seems like a cross between sitcom acting "frasier, friends that sort of sitcom acting" and a bad drama. even the view shots of locations are too ( "glossy" ) like it's had a good bit of editing, Where with the original the enviroment suited the whole setting and the style of how it was filmed and minimum editing reflected the poverty of the lowerclass british.
The story has been butchered also cutting bits out and slamming bits in that don't happen in the british version for a few episodes.
The only thing I agree with is some of the surnames were changed to suit surname trends of the audience.
Whose Line is it anyway?
I have to admit this is the only one I can think of that Us tv has done right. So much so it was a bigger hit here than our own.
Forgive me if I offended anybody I've just sat through the 3rd Us shameless and have a bee in my bonnet.

While I'm with you on almost all of those, I will say that The US Office has sort of become it's own animal, and has had some really wonderful moments all its own. I love both versions and no longer compare them.
No UPS or FedEx shipment options now and this subpar shipment method is almost as expensive as ordering from Japan or Korea anyway. Best part is they don't tell you it's untrackable until the package has been already shipped.
Give me a f-ing break.
I'll try with my local post office tomorrow, but chances are the package is already lost. Either way this should teach me to stop importing stuff from the US, not to mention most shops there don't even bother shipping here to begin with. I can't believe it's so much easier importing things from the other side of the world than from a neighboring country that's supposed to be a major trade partner of the country where I live.
I'll just stick with Steam for western games, the rest is coming from Asia from now on.

Peeve: Our reliance on technology, though I know it can't be helped.
I got to work today and the system had been knocked out by an overnight T-storm. Do you know how much more time consuming it is to doing everything by hand?
