I hate getting tricked into "What the Buck" videos on YouTube XL., I don't know how someone that (1) is more annoying than the Annoying Orange and (2) is less funny than Andy Dick gets so highly rated on YouTube.

New peeve: Browsers that can't handle more than a few tabs/windows at a time.

I used firefox for the longest time on both my computers up until a couple weeks ago. But, toward the end I was getting frequent memory leaks taking up 500mb of RAM or more, a lot of 'not responding' problems, windows losing focus, etc etc. Normally I would kill the process outright and restart, but even using the session restore was becoming a huge hassle since it would take so long, and the new session wouldn't really last all that long.

Two weeks ago, I switch to Chrome. Since every tab is a separate process now, I see this:

And, of course, that shot isn't even all of them, I couldn't fit them all onto a single screen. Process count also used to be around 80, which gives a better impression. Now if there's a problem with a tab freezing, I can still use others to do other things while I wait... why has nobody told me about this before? Takes up more ram, sure, but still worth it. Glad I have 4 gigs on this system (even if only 3.5 register).

I'd switch to Chrome because of the separate threads, but Tab Groups in Firefox 4 are too good to pass up.

I just wonder why Chrome scripts can weasel their way into other browsers. My firefux gets locked up every now and again because of some incompatibly script from chrome that it shouldn't be messing with any way. I suppose it can't be helped, as Google seeps its way into too many things these days.

There's just so much privacy that's been diminished of late. It almost makes me feel good that my computer and phones are outdated.

Whattaya know? My complaint today is about Firefox.

I've never had any major issues with it -- but all of a sudden, we can't load any web pages on Mom's computer with Firefox. Things load just fine with IE, but who wants to use that?! I was trying to troubleshoot it at home this morning before work (which made me late for work), but had no luck. Ran a virus scan, but turned up nothing (not sure I believe the program -- I have a feeling the darn thing is teeming with bugs).

I tried walking Mom through other options over the phone, but I couldn't get into anything much more advanced than clearing cookies & clearing the cache. I had to explain to her how to restart Firefox. Poor thing is 73 years old & technologically-challenged. She does ok if everything is working normally, but doesn't know where to begin if something stops working (which I guess is normal for someone who never had to work on modern computers).

I searched online & found more things to try, but I'll handle them on my own rather than try to explain stuff to her. I really hope I can make something work, but I suspect we're going to have to take the computer to the local shop that fixed my husband's computer when it went wonky.

That reminds me... need to back up my own computer the next time I get on it.

I suppose I have a new pet peeve. A friend needed to take his computer in to get fixed. (Staying on topic) and needed a ride at some point. (This was a while ago, but reading the last post made me remember). So after cleaning it out, he decides he doesn't want to take it in because they might comment on the amount of porn on it.

130GB / 250GB Hard Drive full, and about 6000 viruses when he scanned.

I guess my peeve is waiting on people, who then decide to just not do what they wanted to do, thus completely negating the point of having to wait in the first place.

I fixed the computer! I am soooo not "Tech Girl," but it's up and running properly & much faster than it was before.

I will be getting rid of the anti-virus program that said there were no issues. I downloaded the free version of a different program & found 338 infected files in a "quick scan" (30 minutes roughly). I'll do a full scan with that one very soon. Got rid of the viruses, tweaked a firewall setting, uninstalled a couple of programs -- now web pages load on Firefox again & I'm proud of myself.

Okay, now that I've had a full night's rest, I can relay a new peeve: This one lesbian chick at work is totally hitting on me. This isn't gonna work on many levels. 1. No penis. We've covered this. 2. Coworker. Not totally opposed to it, but in a small department like this, everyone's business is everyone else's business. 3. Not that attractive. 4. I'm way too old for this chick anyway. 5. No penis. 6. No penis. 7. No penis. 8. No motherfucking penis.

But the main thing is, no penis. I like men. Sweetheart, you're barking up the wrong damn tree, hate to bust your bubble. I'm flattered, don't get me wrong, but I'm not interested. And to top it off, we're at work. That's not the time nor the place for such things, seriously.

And what I don't get, is there are three lesbians working there. Three. Why don't they all hook up with each other? Why attempt to convert me? It doesn't work for the Jehovah's Witnesses that come to my door, and it's not going to work for lesbians. I like men. It's not changing.

Bleh, early "morning" rant. Really kind of is starting to get on my nerves though. And it's hard to write a post like this without sounding totally homophobic and/or bigoted, but I'm blunt. I have nothing against gays, I'm just not one, and I'm not interested in being one. I'm thirty, I've established my sexuality. We're good. No thanks on the "dating women" thing.

She's probably hitting on you because you're a woman and, if the vast majority of women are any indication, what you like tends to change based on your hormones, how much you've had to drink, and whether or not some one's pointing a camera at you.
