Why in the FUCK are potential employers and placement agencies in possession of such shitty web interfaces? And why is that the only method through which they will accept an application? THIS IS INFURIATING.

Also, I'm convinced careerbuilder is a scam, as is a friend of mine. No one I know has ever gotten any sort of response from anyone who they applied to through them, let alone a job offer. I think places pretend to post jobs and just farm applications for their own data-taking purposes for marketing or whatever else.

At any rate, I'm pretty sure that site is 100% useless.

I hope you find something Murphie. Trust me, I know exactly how frustrating that shit can be. I was lucky - for a change, someone actually cared that I had military experience.

Honestly, I'm of the belief that unless you know someone at the company who can get your application pulled and noticed your chances of getting a job with a blind application are virtually nil. Placement agencies obviously increase your chances, but even then they have a bajillionty people they are dealing with and their incentive to actually work to find you a job is pretty minimal.

Truth. It sucks. I'm still floored by how lucky I was with this one. I had an exceptional recommendation letter from a previous employer and I made sure that it got stuck in with my application. Judging by the way the HR person said, "I've heard great things about you," I take it that made a huge difference.

I took great pleasure in calling my temp agency and telling them that I no longer required their services.



I hope you find something, though. I'd stand up and vouch for you if I thought it would help, but seeing as I don't even know your name, that might be tricky.

My boss. But to prove Karma is out there, here's a lil story.

My boss loves to play H.S.'ish mind games with her employees. She was going on a trip to Cancun, Mexico this week and she kept sending out emails rubbing it in our noses that she'll be in Cancun. From anyone else it would seem playful but combining it with all our negative experiences with her... it just falls into the "what an unprofessional bitch" category. So... this really really really made my day. I hate relishing in someone else's misfortune but from what she's put me through recently... I did a wee lil dance of joy.

She arrives at the airport (most likely pretty tossed cuz she said they'd start upon waking up w/ the tequila) and a airlines employee sends her to the wrong line... she waits in this line for 1.5hrs and misses her original flight. Who the fuck waits around for 1.5hrs in the wrong place in an airport? Idk... never happened to me and I'm usually blitzed if I fly. They get her on another flight hours upon hours later. This one takes her to Cancun via New Jersey. Right... New Jersey. Sounds strange to me.

Yeah... I was laughing at this point... more you ask? ... of course. I wouldn't want to disappoint.

So she's on the flight from New Jersey to Cancun and the plane starts filling with smoke. Oh noes!!! Right? Don't know what it was but everyone's okay. Well, they make an emergency landing in Tampa... well, guess what... a hurricane's a comin'!!! So... they delay her 1130am flight to 630pm.

She comes back from Cancun on Thursday. Not much time after jet lag is added into the equasion. Lesson: Don't tempt fate. They are real and they are 3 angry bitches ready to turn your dreams into poo.

Gee, I hope her luggage made it with her /sarcasm.

For the longest time, I tried to get a job through sites like Monster.com or Craigslist. One time, I called one of the employers I applied for, just to follow up. It was then that I learned that they had actually filled the position a long time ago. They just keep the application up because they paid to have it up for an extended amount of time. I tell you, I'm betting you apply for some of these jobs when there is no job to even apply for.

Okay, so I'm kind of annoyed right now about this new questions feature on Facebook ... how stupid is this thing. Now people are asking dumb questions like, "Who do you hate more?" and "Should Facebook have a 'dislike' button?" And spamming the crap out of my wall with every answer to every inane question.

Ugh I didn't even try that yet. I guess I figure eventually people will get tired of it and it won't be as annoying, but if I see anything else about Justin Beiber on my wall, someone is getting defriended with the quickness.
