Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I used to bank with what is now Regions bank, and when I went to close it for moving out of the region, they apparently didn't get the memo on what a "closed account" means. They closed it once and gave me the balance of the account, but due to automatic payments that I couldn't stop for various reasons, the account went into overdraft and I was hit with $35 for each payment (not a small amount, at one point it was -350 in overage charges alone). After talking with someone at the branch, they waived all the overdraft charges, which left me with the amounts they actually paid. So, I made a deposit to get the account back to zero. A short time later, the exact same thing happened -- apparently the second 'closing' was a temporary hold on the account, which was lifted once it got back to zero. So, I had to get even more charges waived and pay off even more other charges.
Needless to say, I now have an extreme aversion to most banks, and Regions in particular. I like credit unions better anyway... I just wish there were some larger ones (think on the scale of US Bank) so I could access a branch anywhere, which will be particularly helpful if I happen to get a job out of state when I graduate.
