Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I have an addendum to my earlier peeve's rules:
6. Cruise Control. Learn what it does, use it. I'd be willing to bet 95% of all the cars on the road today have it (and it works). There's no reason you shouldn't use it.
7. If it takes you more than one minute to pass someone, give up, slow down (or speed up) and let the people behind you by. This very rarely happens to me personally (the taking a long time to pass someone, since I tend to be one of the faster people on the road), but when it does I tap the accelerator a little bit to get ahead of them. And the slower you are when this happen, the more it pisses people off. This is even more annoying when it's only 2 lanes.
8. If people are passing you on the right, take it as a sign that it's where you should be. I can understand when some people are morons, cut off the person you just passed, and every other car behind them follows them, which is why I wait a little bit before shifting and passing. But, if the closest car on the right side ahead of and behind you is half a mile away, it's time to shift.
9. If I'm in a line of cars to the left passing someone/thing (like a line of 18-wheelers), and you decide to break out and pass people on the right, don't expect me to let you back in. This is one of the very few times I will ride the person ahead of me. And yes, I will laugh at you when you end up further back than you were when you started. (I've noticed many people hold this view too... it's awesome seeing a line of cars suddenly tense up and take only half the length they were before just to keep someone from merging into the line).
As some of you may have figured out after looking at this and the post that was the beginning of this list, I tend to be a little more aggressive than I should be on the road. I used to deliver pizzas for a living (for about 5 years total), and I've likely logged more miles on my poor cars in that time than you will for your entire life. I know what good driving looks like, and I know what bad driving looks like. And, from all that time, I've developed (or rather borrowed) one simple motto I use when driving: Lead, follow, or get out of the way (bonus points if anyone remembers where that's from without Googling it). I don't care if you're going slower than me or faster than me. As long as you don't hold me back too long I really don't care. That's what this list is mostly aimed toward.
