There is a slim chance of the country being fixed if we get some one smart in office, and the government doesn't take control of them. I like what Obama has been doing so far, and he is trying his best. But he is just too young to be in office IMO.

What they are doing to Obama is the same thing politicians do here in Mexico (and many other countries) once the real oposition gets too strong.

They let them take "the power" and then obstaculize their work as much as they can both directly and also using proxy groups, then shift all the blame for decades of corruption on the new leaders (like they could possibly solve decades of problems in a year or two.) and the stupid people buys it. Then, after the new leader fails they take the power back with an even stronger grip and people just bend over because they feel they have no other choice but to go with the guys "who know how to get things done" even if it's all reeking with corruption.


TL;DR Welcome to third world politics. Every country has indeed the goverment it deserves.

So I used a scale for the first time since I got here.

Before I left, I was a little over 100 kilo (220 pounds; I'd gone under it but never managed to do better than sustaining it).

I am now 92 kilo (202 pounds).

I put in approximately no real effort. It has not even been two full months. If I can get to 200 pounds before Saturday I will have lost 20 pounds in two months. If I somehow managed to keep this rate up, I would be underweight when I left.

This country is the best thing that's ever happened to me.


Oh wait I thought this was accomplishments, not pet peeves.

So, uh, pet peeve: My current pants are about half 38s, then mostly 42s, a couple 40s, and one 36. All of these are loose. The 42s are "they will fall off just walking around the house if I do not hold them up" loose. The only clothing store I've bothered to check so far doesn't have anything past 34s. So I am in the zone where my current clothes are way too big, and I am still too much of a fatass foreigner to get a good selection.

Just make do for now, and when you return to the US buy quality clothing in the size you are (or rather will be, if this trend continues), because that stuff will last longer and make you feel/look better. Unless your goal happens to be further weight loss, at which point, buy stuff that looks ok, and fits, but doesn't break the bank.

I do the latter at the moment. Sure, I'd love to go drop $175 on a pair of Jeans (or three) at Nordstrom, or buy up the entire stock of Cashmere and Merino Wool Sweaters at Banana Republic, but I know my body is still changing, and it would just be a waste of money in the long run. So I have to shop at Old Navy, Target, and such so I look ok, but I'm not throwing my money away.

Due to recently cleaning out my closets, the folks who shop at my local goodwill have a fairly large selection of Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic, J.Crew and Express clothing to choose from. Which I suppose is good for them. Less good for my finances tho.

Heheh, I could wear the same clothes every single day as long as they were clean.

Fashion does not interest me in any way, but I somehow manage to look good enough. Which is more than enough for me.

Not that I'm saying that "fashion" has to matter to you. It's not actually difficult to wear clothing that fits you well. And if you're comfortable in what you're wearing, you're generally more confident and people can see that. It isn't about wearing expensive shit. It's about being comfortable and confident in what you DO wear.

I just like expensive shit.

Some women I work with say I have good fashion sense. That doesn't make any sense to me since I dress like a dirty skater while not working (I have to wear a suit at work). It's mind boggling.
