Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Ah but have you ever thought of checking whether they have re-printed it?
I ahve jsut got asimovs Foundation series with re-prints, you jsut got to researcht eh right order to read them in as he wrote 4 then wrote a prequal book to the series then a new additional book at the end.
If you like really dark sci fi i couldn't recomend a better author than Peter F hamilton. (he actually lives 60 miles from me in Oakham, Rutland) The 3 book series "The reality dysfunction, The Nutronium alchamist and The Naked God" (though be ready for a mamouth read as each book is 1200+ pages long) Its about when you die you don;t go anywhere but a void, and a link between this void and reality apears allowing the dead to flood back in and start posessing people to try and live their lives again. Its a great read, dark, gorey with great battles etc, a revolving story line, great characters and full space federation aliance and organic ships etc.
Also old sci-fi you must read The rama series by Arthur C Clarke and The forge of god and its sequal anvil of stars by Greg Bear.
saren amazon is a great site still to find books but for olderr books try AbeBooks: New Books, Secondhand Books, Rare Books, Out-of-Print Books I got a first edition John Clease book second hand fromt ehm in great condition for my mates birthday.
My pet peeve with books is I never have enough time to really sit down and read for as long as I want, there is always the phone going, someone wanting something, havign to do things. I used to read at work during the lunch break, but there are too many distractions with people, clients poping in etc.
What I do do to help my back is to read in bed on my stomache (which releases presure off my spinal column by bending it the oposite to what it has been in all day) for 30 minutes min. before I go to sleep every night.
