Programming languages are largely written in English-- or at least, using terminology based in English. Most documentation is written in English (although there's a better chance of that being translated than a complier that accepts code written in other languages), and so on. By working on their English now, they're going to be much better off when they actually get a job and are dealing with mostly English environments. I've flipped through a couple of non-English programming books (Korean and Japanese mainly; not that I understood anything), they're absolutely terrifying.
