New vent for the day: if I am courteous enough to hold a door open for you rather than letting it shut in your face, can't you at least be courteous enough to acknowledge my existence? Grrrrrr.

If you let go of it, you might slam it into someone and you don't want to do that so you stand there like a f**king doorman until you see the opportunity to let it go. Now THAT I hate. lol

That is why I don't hold the door open anymore. Too many people don't even bother to say "Thank you."

Will it really kill you to say thank you!?!? Will it!?!?! I only hold the door open for my family and elderly people, that's it! I hate my generation, it sucks ass, no one is polite anymore!

There are a few people here I'd probably intentionally let the door hit. Other than that, I can't bring myself to just let the door go if there are people close enough to be affected. I tend to treat others as I want to be treated & I really don't like it when people let a door close on me. I always make a point of thanking the person who holds a door for me - or at least nodding (if I have my mouth full) & signaling that I appreciate the effort.

My father used to very loudly say "YOU'RE WELCOME" to people who didn't thank him for holding a door. I still smile when I think of that.

Even my 6 1/2 year old daughter thanks people for holding doors. It's not like it's difficult!

All I need is a little nod...just an acknowledgement that you know I went out of my way to be nice and you appreciate it. I don't even need words....now THAT is not asking for much at all! lol

This cracked me up! Recently I did this and wasn't expecting what came back. A womans bag ripped open and spilled. I had my arms full but I stopped and put mine down and helped her. She never looked at me or said a thing. As she walked away, I said "YOU'RE WELCOME" very loudly. She turned around and said "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT, A BOY SCOUT BADGE!?" It startled me but I quickly came back with "No, a GIRL scout badge or at least a fucking thank you!" Cracked up a few people walking to their cars.

No matter how pissed off I am, I will always be polite to people who are genuinely trying to help me.

I'm second in line at a stoplight. I have my right blinker on. I'm kind of inched over to the right side of the road, attempting to get around the first in line, with my front bumper as close as possible to person in front of me without hitting him. Person is miles from the white line you're supposed to stop at. Person won't move forward and let me make a right hand turn on red.

Go to the job centre this morning at the time and date it tells me in the email. They couldn't find my name on the lsit, I showed them the email, he went away, came back 5 minutes later "I don't know why you were sent that, you r appointment is tomorrow at 9:20am not today" (even though the email said thursday 2rd September 2010 9:20am.

Oh and I saved hard knowing I was going to be out of work and guess what. Because I saved, the government will give me less money. so basically if you spend all your money on crap, drugs, alcahol, fags etc then the government will give you more money. If you scrimp and save for rainy day, you get fuck all. Work your life and pay taxes, you get treated like shit and get hardly any money. be a bum, do fuck all and they give you lots of money.... what kind of a picture do they paint here...

Most people still seem rather nice about people holding the door open for each other where I live. Southern hospitality, I guess. Hell, my new neighbors spotted me on recycling pickup when I didn't know they changed the pickup to mornings. They just grabbed it and set it out there.

I returned the favor, I guess, making sure their mail - which now seems to get into mine - gets to them, even if I'm just wedging it into the door.
