Yes, it's possible someone will try to assassinate him, but look at GWB-- he's got a majority of the country against him, considered by a majority to have committed major crimes, and nobody has even made an attempt on him (at least, as far as the public has been told)

If you ask me that's probably because he hasn't touched any major money makers like calling off a war and stuff. He can commit all the crimes he wants as long as he leaves the money alone.

You do realize how much of a drain the war is, right? Not to mention a lot of people see the crappy financial situation most Americans are in as at least partially his fault.

From what I've been reading, The NYT has been getting lots of crap for running the story. Apparently they've shown no evidence whatsoever of it ever happening. A lot of watchdog groups are calling extreme bullcrap.

yeah, their sources (unnamed aides) are extremely shaky, but it's still a huge blow in public opinion, even if they admit it's all fake.

Public opinion is a very weird thing. They have no problem devaluing someone who's charged with murder, even if they're later shown to have been set up.

You know, the more I look at it, the more I hope Obama does take the Democratic nomination. I never liked Dynasty presidences, never liked Bush, so I don't need another round of Clinton in my lifetime. Hillary Clinton didn't have much credibility with me before, but her little war on GTA: San Andreas pretty much confirmed to me she does not value the First Ammendment as much as I do. And for me, that's reason enough to not want her in office.

I found the content equally disgusting, but its somone else's work, someone's art and depraved and pathetic as it may be, its still speech to me. I cannot stand censorship in any form.

Obama seems to be a rather inspirational guy with good ideas, which is more or less how I've always felt about McCain. I'd like to see both on the ballot. For once, I'd like to pick the best between two nice guys rather than the lesser of two evils.

Even if Obama is assassinated, he would still set an important precedent, not to mention he/his VP could still change things.

Although from what I've heard, Hillary and Obama already have some of the strongest Secret Service protection presidential nominees ever have had, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Some of Clinton's campaign staff were circulating a picture of Obama dressed in the garb of a local elder in Kenya during a visit in 2006 where he was touring five countries in Africa. This picture attempts to play off the fear mongering "Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a Muslim" and is a continued reminder of how much I hate the old political guard in this country.

I really love Clinton's campaign manager's take on the issue:

“Enough. If Barack Obama's campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely,” said Williams.

Well let me ask you this, Maggie. If the intent of the picture wasn't for negative intentions, then do tell... what exactly did you intend to do with that picture from 2006? Hillary is running a very nasty campaign. Lies, trying to paint Obama as a radical unpatriotic muslim, copying whatever seems to have worked for someone else last week. I'm not sure what's worse, that it's so transparent, or just that's she's doing it at all. I honestly think this is why we haven't heard any negative rumours about clinton so far, she's doing herself in.

Honestly, if the democratic party chose Hillary, I'd rather vote for a third party candidate than her.

And Malacite, I don't think nader is going to screw up the election that badly. What could hurt is Ron Paul deciding to run as Libertarian.
