If you had read my previous post, I pointed out that the introduction of automation in the car industry caused great upheaval. Stable factory jobs are no longer a large part of the economic makeup of this country because of it. It had a huge impact but like I said, we must bend with the wind, or break. If some simple automation can create such an upheaval in our lives, then think about what a more senient robot could do.

        You say "tomato"...

It means many things, for the most part it means infinity and everlasting. In the Christian portion though, it means self-defeating and the limited confines of the material world. I took that and warped it a little to fit my mind's own conception of the thing. The Ouroboros to me is just a very self defeating thing that causes its own demise as one devouring themselves would do.

          Re: Can capitalism survive?

If you ask me capitalism will survive for as long as there's need for money.

However the way I see it the future is either the human race annihilating itself or advancing to a level where there will be no need for money, since everyone will be able to get pretty much everything they will ever need thanks to technology and education*.

Currency and everything around it was created for convenience, to measure someone's work compared to something else so distributing goods was more efficient (regardless of how unfair that measure can be).

Once all the human problems get solved there will be no need for any type of currency. And technology can help us do that.

The question is: Will we be able to solve humanity's problems before we destroy ourselves?

PS > The main reason why I like Star Trek so much (or animes like Heroic Age) is because I believe humans have a good chance of evolving as a race to achieve that kind of societies.

*Notice how I exclude religion from it. Because I belive that's one of the main problems the human race needs to get rid of if we are to advance to a higher level. Faith and religion are not the same thing, humans need faith, but religions are an ancient cancer that needs to be removed and replaced by education, respect and understanding.
