Don't be fucking silly. This is just being blown out of proportion. The parents are pussies for taking this to the media, and the kid is a fucking idiot if he seriously doesn't know what "sue" means.
The kid was skiing and due to either carelessness or a lack of skill ran into someone and injured them. The person is suing the parents for medical expenses, which means it's not just a collision.
Naturally they want the kid's parents to pay for it, so they're taking them to court. If this was a kid breaking a window playing baseball in their backyard, or denting a car while riding their bike around, nobody would care.
There is nothing bad or out of the ordinary happening here.Comment

A frivolous lawsuit would be something that has no possibility of actually making it through the legal system.
That is VERY VERY far from being frivolous. Someone was injured, and they're suing for damages (medical expenses) from the negligent party. This happens every day. If this kid had been a teenage driver and run into the man crossing a street, and caused the same injury, there would be no story. The kid caused damages, his custodians are being taken to court to pay them. There is nothing amazing or silly about this, with the exception of the media coverage.
There's not, specifically. It's the same laws that say that if I forget to put on the parking brake in my car and it smashes through your house I have to pay. The same laws that say if I let my dog out without a leash and he attacks your dog or yourself I have to pay. It is negligence. Pure and simple.I can't believe there is a sking law.

Actually its called the leash law. There is also a law that states if a dog attacks someone the owner of the dog is liable. That law was just made not so long ago.
