  • Help w/ Gift for G/F?

Ok...I could use some ideas here. I was thinking that my g/f and I weren't going to do gifts for each other b/c we're both kind of broke, but she went and got me a new phone.

I have maybe $100 to work with and I have no friggin clue what to get her, most of the stuff she likes(photography, skiing) she either already has the best thing you can get or something she'd want costs like $600-$2,000. Anyone have any decent gift ideas, or something you got your g/f that didn't destroy your budget?

Does she have a digital picture frame? If you find one on sale it can be under $100, but usually right in the $100-$150 range.

Hmmm that one may work, I'll see what I can find.

Not a chance, if she gets that and an EZ-Bake Oven I'm essentially replaced.

There are many things that you can do, depending on what you want to do. Do you want to be creative with the packaging that might make it a bit hard for her to work at? To me, it'd be funny, then again my SO and I find a lot of things funny, lol.

If she doesn't yet have an iPod then get her the iPod shuffle, which is fairly cheap and can hold a lot of songs. It holds about 1gig if I remember correctly. What you can do is uploads songs on there for her. You know, it'll be romantic, the kind of thing that she wouldn't expect. Hell, your first track can even be of you recording a message for her and a few songs.

So, how do you record and make sure that it's the first track? Easy: by using Winamp. The plug-in has been pre-installed already and all you need to do is go to the Media Library, load music in to the library and import it in the iPod shuffle. You can order the tracks in anyway you want, and it doesn't have to be randomized.

After you're done with that, you can take a sharpie if you want write a message on it or something. Pack it up again.

Take saran wrap and wrap it tightly, and I mean, wrap it tightly Afterwards, put it in a box with peanuts, an dif you want, get some packaging foam. Let it dry/do it in layers and give it to her. Then again you can just skip this part

My advice, don't be obvious and go directly for her interests. But some that's subtle and shows there is more thought than a price tag. =x

Also, throw in something hand made by you to go with it, also wins in points ;3

The only thing I feel bad about is when I drop $900 on x-mas gifts and a really swank x-mas date downtown I'm dating a total whore, but now that I actually have a really good g/f I get hit with lawsuits and old debts and I can't afford to get her something nice.

She said she wanted me to PL her WHM as a gift lol, I may be a nerd, but I still refuse to give ingame services in the stead of RL gifts when it's for a g/f.

PL her AND get her something.

                Win/win, double points for you.

$100 isn't really that much in the realm of gifts that will last.

Personally, I recommend you find something fun and cheap, and do that. $100 can buy a lot in memory. Be creative.

I wouldn't recommend a digital picture frames, they're really wastes of money. It would be cheaper to repurpose a used monitor.

And that's why Armando's the smart one.

My parents like theirs as does everyone else I know who has one. I really don't have the Electrical Engineering expertise to turn a used LCD monitor into a device that accepts memory cards and plays the videos and images on said cards when inserted. Most of them also come with a little remote, and they're simple enough that a Luddite could use one (except that they'd rather burn it than use it).

However, I do agree with the $100 goes a long way thing. You don't actually have to get her anything as long as you use the money to do something.

Step one: Cut a decent looking frame around monitor.

Step two: Plug monitor into computer

Step three: Put pictures on computer. Have screensaver display image files.

Step four: Hide computer behind shelf.

                        win.

Sounds kinda...ghetto fabulous and bulky...I think for a good percentage of people the $100 digital frame would be better.

I think that kind of defeats the purpose of a Digital Picture Frame as you need an entire CPU+Moniter set up to do what one smaller, sleeker, movable device can do in a MUCH better fashion.

And I gotta say, the personalized ipod in oversized packing thing sounds like a good idea to me. Or maybe even do something similar with the Digital Picture Frame idea. Take a bunch of photos you know she'll like, throw in a special romantic messege or two, put it in some special wrapping, then voila! A personalized, long lasting, useful and memorable x-mas gift that's both expensive AND thoughtful. Throw in a little hand writen card good for "free powerleveling" or whatever and you'll have yourself a win-win-win gift.

One: Cut a hole in a box.
Two: Put your junk in that box.
Three: Make her open the box.

And that's the way you do it~ It's my dick in a box!
