I take that as a compliment though, even if it's meant as an insult.

It wasn't an insult. It was meant to be a pretty straightforward comment. Trust me, I sympathize with you to a fair degree. I'm vegetarian and you couldn't pay me enough to eat meat, ever. Just can't stand the idea of doing it. That's just me though. But you make some broad generalizations that I feel are pretty unjustified.

For instance, I've seen my fair share of tentacle hentai, lolicon, and every now and then I'll find some furry stuff that isn't insanely weird. Yet I've never been attracted to underaged girls, animals, or vines/squids/octopuses. It's similar to people that say porn causes violence towards women. No, not any more than video games teach kids to be violent in general.

Well, yes, of course. Different strokes for different folks. It's only natural that someone who detests the notion of porn is going to be pissed when he/she catches his/her spouse watching it. But then there's also lots of people who think it'd be totally awesome to have a girlfriend/spouse/significant other that enjoyed watching porn together.

It might come as a super shock to you, but there's quite a few people who aren't titilated by empty sex.

This kind of proves you have a pretty narrow notion of pornography and the people who view it. I don't think any of my friends enjoys watching empty sex, and they all watch porn. "Good" porn (if you could pretend for just a couple of minutes that porn is neither good nor bad, and some porn is of higher quality than others) in my opinion makes an effort not to look just like empty sex. That's why I'm very partial to (good) h-doujins. They're easier to find than good porn videos in any case.

Finally, every now and then, some of us just like to look at a pretty girl's body. There shouldn't be anything wrong with that, unless you also hate museums. The line between "glamour photography/artistic nudity" and softcore porn is pretty damned thin.

Don't get me wrong; I AM playing the devil's advocate here. But I do respect your decision to dislike porn. I just don't think you've got a very objective mentality about the whole thing.

Sorry TM, none of the above. To me, the reason the world has so many issues is because of selfishness. We worry about ourselves before our children, our spouses, our partners, our family, our co-workers, our fellow man..... There are times when you should put yourself first but when you do it all of the time, it's just not good for anyone. Just my 2 cents...

Yar, its amusing to watch on vid if you're really bored. But its not arousing, at least for me.

Yup. Good H-Doujins are generally better than most porn vids out there. Cause of one thing. Plot! Half the time, the trailers of a porn site is better than the actual video >_>; Only one site I think so far that makes it enjoyable mentally to watch porn would have to be, one of the many under Bangbros.com. Its entertaining during the non sexual moments o_O;

And we'll just all have to agree to disagree on all of that, since I honestly couldn't care less about how the rest of the world views sex. We can all see how well that's worked for us anyway. Not very. In any age of the world. Extremes on both ends. Too repressed or too much.

Whilst you are entitled to your opinion, you must also realise that society can be the cause of people relying on this material. Society is very cruel, it can cause all sorts of problems like how people treat others and outcast them. Sometimes its the only thing to give pleasure to those that are neglected and outcasted. The human Phyche is very complicated. People react different to certain situations. If watching it makes a person happy but does not cause them to harm someone then there is no harm in that? I know many religeous leaders pick the bad part of how it effects a few and claim that it effects everyone just because their book doesn't agree with it.

The only reason a person would get upset if they caught their partner "tossing the caber" is they would feel that they are not getting enough attention and that attention is being directed at something else. I have witnessed this with many friends and collegues have problems in relationships with my shoulder being used many times for consolidation. The fact is sometimes being upfront to the person is ignored by the opposite party, blaming the other when they themselves are to blame sometimes, its human nature and something every person will come accross in their lifetime. Hail i have rolled off subject slightly.

Back to the depiction of porn. Just think for a minute, how much tax is collected by the government from porn sales in the US?; I have a healthy relationship with my GF, we both watch standard porn together, some of it is absolutely hillarious (especially when its german and you get an english voice over like alot of 80's porn had) Its more of a starter before the real event. You will find this to be more common in mine and your generation. The fact is, human nature has always been a voyer, it stretches back far into history that sex, vourism and the constant search for pleasure is an instinct we have, the difference is the level of how it affects a person. I ask what is the oldest job in teh world? and the answer is prostitution and its still exists thousands of years later.

Its quite easy to say porn is wrong with our society, but I would challenge that and ask what about war, religeon, greed, vengence, jealousy and hatred and how every person seems to be able to classify someone under a certain heading i.e. "hes a geek, hes a dumb fuck, hes just retarded". The fact a person decides who someone else should be is what is wrong, why can't everyone be equal, everyones characteristics not be judged, difference are not disected and held against people to the satifaction of the holder.

In reality there is no single society, single group or single race which means there are differences. As long as there are differences there will be conflict.

This is what is wrong with this world, in an ideal world, eliminate differences and no one will have anyhing to fight about. But alas that is only a dream as we all know humanity will never abolish differences, its in our nature to be different and to try and stand out as an individual. It is in our genetic makeup; the plight to be something different may also end up being our downfall.

Nothing wrong with that, I don't think I ever implied that. Or that porn is what's wrong with the world. Go back a few pages, what I think is wrong with the world is self-centered attitudes.

It's actually quite objective. I can understand why some couples would need it. Some people have problems in that area that that kind of thing can help. I've heard of psychiatrists or doctors prescribing it for conditions, especially problems in some relationships. I can understand watching it for jollies, like the whole German in voice over thing. I get the same kind of laughs out of watching badly dubbed Asian flicks. It's more of a 'wow, his mouth stopped moving ages ago but he's still talking' thing.

And I don't think I ever said it promoted violence toward women. I don't think it does that at all. If anything some of it tends to portray women as this shiny center of all that makes people happy and feel good. That's the total opposite of violence. XD

Religion has very little to do with my opinion on it, so I'll leave that alone. It's that I'm a die-hard romantic, and also someone who enjoys writing. For me, I have to really connect to a character, be it in video or print form, before I can identify with anything they go through. This is part of why the SW: Legacy books are full of fail atm. Jacen's too off the wall from what he used to be and totally unrelatable. That and they fucking ret-conned Vergere. But I digress.

I can't speak for h-doujin and the like, since I read very little manga of any type, even series that I enjoy. If they create a deep romance between the characters before the scenes, then I don't really consider that porn. To me that's just more of a R/A-rated romance.

I think the misunderstanding is that by 'porn' I mean the 'cheap shit'. The 'bad porn' as you put it. So long as there is an emotional connection between characters, I honestly don't mind the sex scenes. It's when you throw people into improbable situations and they just suddenly screw someone randomly. That's what I mean by empty sex. It's the way that it *can* be portrayed, and at times is, especially in the 'cheaper' stuff as two people on a random encounter.

I'm a romantic, I can't help it. For me it's about a bonding of body and soul and I think that some of it just tries and often succeeds in cheap-ifying (lolnewwordz) the act. And that just really upsets me. Like in a 'sad' sense of upset.

So... yeah, if that's not objective enough, I really do apologize, but it's just the old heart in me, and the writer. And I'm really sorry I stirred up a shit storm and will run away and cry alone in a corner now cuz I made everyone mad. >.<

QTF. You can list so many problems with the world, but the root of the problem, is they all trace back to this. The problem however, isn't that people are different in today's society, the problem is there is no tolerance for people who are different.

Naw, not having all your staging points open is something that's wrong with the world. People want to do things, but they just want to half-ass it. I mean, do people think "I'd like to play this game, but I'd like to be bad at it."? Or "This relationship means a lot to me, and I'd hate to see it fall apart, but I'm not interested in putting too much effort into it."? Why even do something if you're not going to go all the way? Nobody is ordering hamburger halves at McDonalds, or setting goals in halves of miles.
