Lay off the Anime for a while. You will probably find that all of the problems you laid out within this post will be solved if you do so (particularly the part in bold).

As for me, it was either last night or the night before it (rather sad that I can't remember even when I had the dream), I dreamt I was doing a bunch of random stuff in real life, but a good portion of the dream occupied space of me playing Super Smash Bros. . . . Brawl.

I should really consider making a dream diary, like, as soon as possible.

Using this thread isn't as immediate. I would love to, for reinforcement, or possibly just for the sake of copying what I put to paper on to the computer (like I did with that sketch).

But, yeah, I'm going to set one of my notebooks aside for it, and maybe a pencil, too (again, for easier access).

Geeze, I had the most real that it makes it scary dream. x.x
Ok, in it I was getting dressed, time in there was 7:15am, sun was up and coming in brightly in my window. I gone passed the front door and put on my nikes instead of my converse. Went through the kitchen and into the garage sat shotgun in the Escape.

Thats when it got weird, as I left, I noticed this quarter sized spider on my right pants leg. My body froze there until it suddenly reappeared in the cup holder to the left of me. I some how stand up with my seat belt still on and it was crawling toward me. My voice was gone and I started to panic. Then another one appeared were the first came from and I went limb, but still standing.

Then I woke up to American Idiot playing from my desktop as an alarm.
I don't know why, but that had to be the most real dream I had, and unusual considering I only had 4 hours of sleep, since it was 5:15 when I X'ed out of winamp to stop that song. Still until I heard American Idiot play I honestly thought I was awake and inside the Escape with those spiders coming after me.

            Re: Lucid Dreaming

I used to have lucid dreams very frequently. Now they come and go rarely. I couldn't find out what triggered them while i kept track of them via voice memo on my cell phone. At first I used to wake up tearry eyed or crying uncontrollably. Then came the unexplained orgasms even if it wasn't a "arrousing" dream. During a time, a long time i only had falling-flying dreams. Then i only had flying dreams. The last falling dream I had was when dreaming i realized i could fly and I'm not falling or sometimes interrupted as failing in life. But I realized in my dream everything was fine i have nowhere but to go up...Then i started smoking then quit got on the patch then came the lucid sex dreams...scarry at first but fun in the long run.

Monday of this week I recorded a dream that took place at my parents place. A nice 40 acre hobby farm in northern minnesota. I was flying looking for something. As sure as day i felt the wind flow over me and aswell the invisible walls i kept hitting like a bird into a window. So i started walking. After awhile i found 2 greyhound bus tickets for myself and my wife in the dirt. Nothing clicked in my head so i shoved them in my backpack that always magically appeared when i needed it but while dreaming i always had a 3rd person view and i was never wearing a backpack.

But all in all it was just me finding things and flying low to the ground. I wasn't just finding things they were shirts from a company i interviewed at but didn't get the job. My brothers military fatigues but then when i woke up i realized they could be mine. My bro and i were often mistaken for each other not twins tho he was born 2 years after me.

When i woke up and recorded it i ran into my dad at a small diner in Becker waitin to get to work. Anyway i told him about the things i found and he told me about the greyhound tickets.

I guess my grandpa(Dads Dad) and a friend used to have a shuttle company where they'd buss minners back and forth from home to the mines. Later became the greyhound bus lines. but grandpa got out of it because it wasn't bringing in enough money ot keep the family afloat.

but yeah, sorry for the long post I'm bored and enroute to fayettville, NC and have a date with a 12 year old whiskey.

Ah hah! A few friendly words of advice to anyone that likes their sleep un-altered take off your nicotine patch at least an hour before you crash out. I don't dream often (or the age old argument I don't "remember" my dreams every night) maybe one or two a year up until recently and every last one gave me a great pause for thought from some detail that always stuck in my mind and allowed me to remember more from the dream. Since I've tried to give up smoking (it's finals... I still have at least one a day ) I've forgotten to take off my patch a few times before going to sleep, once it actually trapped me in a dream that was so utterly 'real' to me I diddnt wake up and slept right through my alarm system (cell phone plus two different alarms next to my bed, one has a motor and wheels that drives off my dresser when it starts beeping). And a side note, my brand new manager asked me if I hit the sauce a bit too hard the night before, holy crap I've never been more pissed off by some one's comment than that retarded girls assumption... and told her as much.

It's been quite a while but the main things I remember about the dream is I was rock climbing at one of my favorite spots in Moab, the wall was sticking out over a rather deep natural pool. There were quite a few people there that I'd never imagine outdoors friends and coworkers mainly that were laying around the beach or wandering through the wilderness, the only person that was close to me was my girlfriend sitting on top of the cliff watching me climb. I was able to correctly guess where each person was and what they were doing almost as if when ever I was curious there would be a camera zooming in on them to see what they were doing (or astral projection, which ever explanation you'd like to use ^^ ). This little scene seemed to go on for ever until I heard a slight buzzing noise in the background of reality (later to find out the noise was my alarm clock xD ) but the dream took it as a horrible horrible omen the skys darkened and the clouds looked to be threatening rain. At that moment I heard a crunching sound comming up the back of the cliff but couldnt move my perspective at that time to see who it was. When the top of the persons head crested the cliff face and I could recognize the person a huge echoing "dun-Dun-DUN!!" went off in the background, I laughed so hard I almost fell off the rock wall. It was my marriage happy ex-girlfriend, my current girlfriend had a look of absolute amusement on her face when my ex opened her mouth and said "So when are you going to ask me to marry you?" I shrugged and let go of the wall. As I was falling I heard my current girlfriend say "Well, there's your answer psycho." Freefalling I turned around enough to see that the lake was now empty and I woke up.... 3 hours late for work

Do you go out of your way to try to make me hate you?

Also, what you described wasn't a lucid dream; lucid dreaming implies that you realize you are dreaming. That is what's called a false awakening; and lucid dreaming can actually help with those since you learn to tell the difference between the real world and dreams.

Although going into a false awakening, realizing you're dreaming, waking up, realizing you're dreaming, waking up, realizing you're dreaming, etc., and be really freaking annoying. Sometimes you're just like "GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I want to wake up, dammit."

Jaice, Akashimo, I really recommend you get in the habit of doing reality checks as soon as you wake up, at least. It keeps those annoying "I thought I was actually awake" dreams from becoming as large a problem.

Also, having a distinct alarm clock can help. A lot of times, if you can hear something, it will work its way into your dream. I've had at least three or four dreams with what seemed to be epic narration; when I woke up I realized they were infomercials. I've also had real conversations spill over into dreams. At least if you can hear it, that's a sign that you're probably dreaming.

I've found trying to describe your nightmares to other people never works out the way you want it to. It either comes across as hilarious or a bad acid trip. (part of that's my own thoughts, part of thats from a comedian)
I've had the buzzer on an alarm translate into a bell ringing in my dream, or the clock radio translate into me listening to music in my dream. Like Feba, I've had television programs work their way in as well, when I fall asleep with the tv on.

You must have some very odd nightmares. I don't think I've ever had that problem.

He meant describing them. I see where he's coming from.

Though, admittedly, I had some very strange nightmares, particularly in my much younger days.

Apparently this problem is more common than I thought.

My son had a Nickelodeon alarm clock (that was quickly tossed). It had a few different ANNOYING alarms, one of which was a very loud bugle doing Reveille. >< Well that was the alarm that had the most luck actually waking him but there were a few times he did manage to sleep through it. When I woke him he would tell me he was having a dream about being in the military. When his shift called for him to start work at 3 AM.....that clock was quickly replaced!
