  • Gamespot fires editor for bad review > Kane and Lynch

    Read and discuss people. I'm definetly going to stop going to Gamespot since they have now lost all credibility and only care about how much income they get from ads and not the games itself.

    They had credibility?

    either way, seems like it's way too shaky to say either way for sure yet. This is why you should never trust a single source for reviews, though. Sites that even out other reviews have much less opportunity to be biased. I personally like metacritic, but I'm pretty sure there's two or three others out there.

    I know that I, personally, have completely stopped trusting opinions from three or four popular sources, simply because I find them to be dead wrong so often. It might be personal opinion and the editors they have, but with it so consistent I find it impossible to trust them. About the only review site I go to for full length reviews is ign, as I find I generally agree with and enjoy their reviews.

      The article says it's a rumor.

      For all we know, maybe the editor/writer came to work drunk, and gave his boss' mistress a sloppy wet kiss in front of the whole office. (And, she liked it.)

      *shrug* Anything is possible at this point.

      yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
      Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
      leaving no trace in the water.

        It doesn't say that they confirmed any of it. In fact, it says exactly the opposite--that no one would confirm anything. Therefore, they can see pretty much whatever they want such as "My brother's girlfriend's little brother says that Eidos was going to have him assassinated, but at the last minute, the assassin was murdered by EA rival thugs before he could finish the job, so they had to resort to getting him fired by sending a Malaysian body double to pose as Gerstmann and perform lude sexual acts in the lobby while drinking a bottle of isopropyl alcohol."

          I love it when there's advertisments for a game all over a site (read: Like when Leisure Suit Larry came out) but the game just gets like, a 5.0 rating. (read: Like when Leisure Suit Larry came out)

            Nothing new. X-Play does it all the time.

              Now, even if this whole firing was completely unrelated, I've still lost a LOT of faith in Eidos. Someone remind me to not buy from them.

                Eidos lost my trust when they closed down Ion Storm, pretty much.

                Gamespot never really had my trust, they lowball some of the greatest games.

                Not that any other gaming site is much better lately, they're all pretty much (1) on the take or (2) have an agenda. Unfortunately, gaming journalism isn't the most objective side of journalism.
