Re: Charged for naming a Teddy Bear "Muhammad"

Ok, I read into this some more. It seems that

    a) she was teaching abroad in Sudan, Africa.

    b) "She had faced charges under Article 125 of Sudan's constitution, the law relating to insulting religion and inciting hatred." - CNN

So technically it's article 125 of sudan's constitution which is the highest law of their land.

    but still... *sigh*

I think the only way for human beings to all get along together is if we're invaded by aliens or some natural disaster happened to take us to the brink of extinction.

People are totally mother-fucking retarded and overreact about the most asinine bullshit.

That about sums up my opinion of this whole farce.

It's a name, just like some people like to use Jesus (though pronounced differently) and no one cries if a bear is named Jesus. Sounds to me like more nitpicking details the extremists like to use to justify their bloodshed and indoctrination of their young.

          So luckily, common sense wins.

Re: Charged for naming a Teddy Bear "Muhammad"

From what I've been told the name Muhammad is only given to a son in a Muslim family so maybe they felt that by giving the same name to a teddy bear ridiculed or made light of this tradition they have. Saying that, I think they were completely over the top, I heard they didn't think the punishment was high enough and they wanted her executed. Where the hell is this world going to??
