So true. Also, in that case I hate a lot of things. A lot.

      Re: WoW?

There's a lot that I can't afford, so does that mean I get to become a closed minded tool now?

      Sweet.

I want my jerk points now, kthx.

In seriousness, I've never even looked at more than 5 screenshots of WoW, so I have no opinion. LotR, however, has faced a similar fate among most XI fans. Replace the entire typical WoW iz teh sux argument with only the word 'LotR' in place of WoW. Change nothing else.

The rabid ones have gotten no more creative or convincing in their OMGXIFTWONRY argument. So as others have said, play what you like. If you like both, that's happy pandas. If people say otherwise, they're probably the same fucking tools who will bitch about everything else you do in game, even if you're doing it right. Just to have something to bitch about. Apparently their heads will explode if they don't release the hot air.

        Re: WoW?

<---- doesn't have time to play any other MMOG anyway, so:

        FFXI > EVE+WoW

And thanks to all that money XI is saving me (that would be spent going out otherwise) I can now afford an extra bottle of coke and a can of Pringles a week!!

In other news, Taskmage, there are some people that actually think other games suck, sour grapes has nothing to do with it for most people.

For example, I actually think WoW does look stupid as fuck, and I actually do think EVE is boring. Not because I can't afford them, I could easily afford them, but because I ACTUALLY THINK THOSE THINGS.

I believe you genuinely don't like a lot of things. I think what I said does apply to a lot of people though.

              Re: WoW?

But you're intelligent, Feba. Most fanboys don't even really look and/or play said games and judge based off of (no joke, I've heard this before) 'something my friend's friend's cousin said'.

Yeah, that doesn't work for me.

Now if you read up on a game and decide it sounds bad for your tastes, that's a whole other ball game.

Like, for example... the latest Barbie Pony Happy Fun shiny cute game.... I can guarantee that's full of fail.

don't talk like that. I might be getting a frilly horse raising game soon.

there are downsides to getting your mom to play video games.

Poor, poor Feba. Playing Barbie Horse Racing.

My mom plays Zelda and Final Fantasy and bought her own DS. >.>; (And she's damn good at Zelda. She scares me.)

Of course, I didn't have to 'get' her to play them. She was playing NES when I was all of 4. She started it. My whole girl-gamer thing is all her fault to begin with.

                    Re: WoW?

I've got her to try Zelda:TP, she's only about four hours in though.

She's in love with her copy of Brain Age and BA2, though.

My mom has always been more of a D&D and Ren Fest nerd than video games, though. There was only one rather obscure arcade game she enjoyed, I actually managed to find a copy on some compilation for Xbox, she played it like twice.

                      Re: WoW?

I showed my mom Tetris and Dr. Mario when I bought my original GameBoy...turns out it was the worst thing I ever did, cause next thing you know I'm fighting my mother tooth and nail to get my GameBoy back. Typical exchange:

<me>"Mom, can I play my GameBoy for a while"
                      <mom>"..."
<me>"Mom? Can I have a turn now? You've been playing for 3 hours..."
                      <mom>"Go clean your room"
                      <me> *muttering*
                      <mom>"What was that?!"
                      <me> *runs away*

She actually still plays that thing, it's old as dirt but still kicking. I'm amazed, honestly, it's gotta be 15 years old or so...
I'm a slow motion accident, lost in coffee rings and fingerprints...

Mine is pretty much the same way with sudoku on brainage. Although at least she's playing those instead of spending money on stupid paper book full of the same crap.

Oh good, I'm not the only o... I mean, I've tried those games before, and find them rather likable, so perhaps one day I shall play them through completely. Yeah, that's it.
