Re: What would be in your house?
Actually, weirdly enough I watched a program about some people who decided to build a green house in the middle of the lake district or somewhere. They got a wind turbine and some solar panels and despite it being Britain they were getting a lot more energy out of the Solar Panels than they were the Wind Turbine. The blades are quite heavy even on those very light models apparently.
Apart from the usual, you can probably tell I like the whole indoors/outdoors thing a lot.
1. I would have a cross between an underground pod house (mowing the roof
) and one of those great Japanese style houses where big sections of the outside walls are lockable sliding doors so you can open up the whole house if you want to. Part of me wants a Hay Bale house but I suspect that's more to do with getting to play with a chainsaw.
2. Big kitchen, pantry, decent sized store rooms. I like to cook.
3. Underfloor heating, I hate radiators and shoes.
4. Library/game/computer room with at least one incredibly comfortable oversized, overstuffed chair that I can curl up into with a blanket. Possibly also one of those library ladders on wheels because your home should make you smile.
5. An outdoor suspended bed (so it swings) or hammock under some shelter. There is something really satisfying about sleeping outdoors.
6. Home cinema.
7. Solar panels, light wells, turbine if the area supports it, composting toilet, rain catchers etc.
8. Big greenhouse and garden/surrounding land.
9. I love baths, especially with a book, so I would want something big, with temperature control and jets and current and stuff.
