What would be in your house?

If you were building a new house, what would you want in it (and on it, around it, and it itself), within reasonable costs of course.


I've been making a list, this is what I have so far:

1- Dome home. And/or earth sheltered. A house that would blend into the landscape, not to mention the economical and environmental benefits, and the sheer kick-assness of being able to mow your roof if you so wish would be great.
2- Computer/gaming chamber. I'm not sure if this should be a secluded and comfy den, or a small private closet or what.
3- Nest. No, seriously, I just wind up sleeping in a mash of pillows and blankets, I might as well have a small room just for that so I don't have to worry about making a mess.
4- Various bathroom stuff: First, I was reading about Japanese bathrooms lately, when I read they had a drain in the floor. Now I'm wondering why the hell they aren't in homes here already. Second, a really, really deep tub to soak in. Maybe with jets. Also, maybe a washlet (don't fucking laugh)

Oddly enough though, if I had an apartment, I wouldn't want anything larger than a single room, kitchenette, and bathroom. I'd want the smallest livable apartment, but I don't think I'd want that in a house.

Easy.

1)A 4 car garage....stacked 2x2 for the extra room. It would have to have 1 really big door...and not two. It would be a really great place to work on the vehicle...which is something that I miss. I can't get caught changing my oil in my apartment complex.....

2)Gun room. Need a place for a gun safe. Doubles as a reloading room. Preferably with a 100 yrd underground shooting range. Double lane. More convenient than traveling to a gun range.

3)The computer room is a given.

4)Weight room. Why travel to a gym?

5)Large kitchen with lots of counter space.

6)Ten acres of land to center it in. Preferably in the mountains.

7)Two large cats...and a small dog.

I wouldn't build a new house. I hate new construction.

But in the interests of answering the OP:

1. A gym.
2. A kitchen with a walk in freezer and a storeroom.
3. At least one bathroom for every bedroom in the house.
4. A pool.
5. A home theatre.
6. A wine cellar.
7. A library.
8. Everything on a closed network that I can control from my home office.
9. Oh, a home office.

Ideally all of this would be in a rehabbed home from the turn of the century or earlier.

Simple eh?

Well, i have gym 3 times a week and i would be bored to death if i did it at home, i like having company and something to look at but myself and walls.

I also like going to the pool and the beach, but not often do i enjoy it by myself.

I guess a computer room would be suitable for a webdesigner and gamer, but i rather just spend the money on something else, like traveling. If i had the money for a uber expensive house, i'd buy myself an appartment to call home, then i'd get a VW bus van and travel the world.

I enjoy being home, so I like to be comfortable. But I can totally understand wanting to be out and about.

I enjoy the benefits of swimming, but I hate sharing a pool with the unwashed masses. I don't need anything large. Just something big enough to do laps in.

I heard if you are responsible, tans can help prevent more types of cancer than it can get you. Not meaning to derail the conversation though.

In any case, i dont pay much attention to these sorts of things, i'd rather get a comfortable, affordable and simple home. I find that the more things i have, the more worries i have.

1) Have some level of a "Green" house. Save money on bills eventually.
2) A lake
3) Boat house full of fishing gear
4) Big back porch and backyard
5) A bar
6) Nice media room for football and some gaming

I'd definitely have a green roof, if nothing else, since I prefer to live in the city. It's pretty. It provided a bit of green in the middle of all that concrete and steel, and it helps with energy costs.
