Re: Birth control pills...for men?

My husband and I weren't on the pill ... and he used to pull out ... we have two kids ...

I think if women and men could commit to getting on the pill together it would be like double protection and it would be easier for them to stick with it.

You know, just because you're on a pill, doesn't mean you should stop using condoms. Or do people still believe that they can tell that their partner doesn't have any STDs just by looking at them?

Some STDs can still be transferred even with a condom as well. Mainly this is just about a way to prevent unwanted births.

No one ever said the condom was 100% effective. But hello, you don't just stop using it because it's uncomfortable. That's how you get syphilis.

Are people really that misinformed?

Yar, no more dulling the sensation.

I wonder what the side effects will be though. The Pill can cause women to have a much lower libido >->p

There's a rather high positive correlation between the female pill and various cancers (proven, no matter what documentation some doctors may push on you) and I'd be just as worried for the men as I am for the women.
The only problem with that is saying "the" female pill ... the big study that was stopped early involved Prempro, which is a ways away from human bioidentical hormones. I mean, Premarin (one part of the above) is pregnant mares' urine!

In any case, that sort of simple, easy, once-a-day thing would be nice ... I have to put up with large IM injections every other week.

Men will no longer have any reason oncesoever to bitch about birth control.
Men don't now. It's called a vasectomy. Get one, motherfuckers!

Really, not to mention there's no justice sweeter than what only a vasectomy can provide.

They suck much much less than 18 years of child support.
Well, it's not like you actually have to pay that.

Hell, hand out the pills for free on college campuses then. Much, much fewer unwanted kids, and it slows the spread of STDs while we're at it.

Well, it's pay that or end up in jail. Or raise the child yourself, and that's not exactly free.

I'm not sure I know what point you're trying to make there. At this hour I have no idea if you're being earnest, sarcastic, or trying to make some obtuse point. Of course, with only eight words, I'm not exactly working with much.

Thats how STD's are transmitted, you may think yourself clean and her but that is not always reality.

On the male pill thing this has been aroudnf or a while with the pharmacutical companies trying to balance the responsibility. If both male and female take the pill then thats double safety.

I would prefer a pill option, the other involves a needle in the bollocks (ok guys stop squirming now!) yeah, thats another method thats availiable now.... F that!

But being a responsible adult, I would advise you wear a jonny anyway you can get more sensitive ones that don't block out the feeling for us guys and you protect yourself from STD's especially if your out at night on the game and pull ome random chick to have a one nighter with. In teh Uk adults between the age of 18-25, 38% tested (out of 100,000) had a STD of some sort.

You also have to think the thicker johnys may help reduce the sensation on teh guy preventing premature ejaculation that especially the not so experienced will suffer from, so it saves embarrasement and makes them last longer.

I will quote Billy connolly if i may. "There isn't a heard of horses that could pull my arse in the oposite direction when i'm about to orgasm"

The difference between 100% transfer without and 1% transfere with, you are much safer being suited up.

To try and prevent this in the Uk, the students union are handing out free boxes of condoms at universities to freshers in a bid to prevent the "early itch" also we have free family plannign clinics where you can get discounted or free (depending on means tested situation) pills and condoms from your doctors.

Yeah sorry Muphie, probably not quite the same (UK here) but it's only recently that they started cracking down on Child Support more and it's still far from perfect.

Not to be overly personal but my father managed to make my mother homeless and then wait another 6 years before the government got involved to make him pay any child support.

Always condoms, always, but a male pill would be nice. Not all women can take the pill successfully and it still has the odd fun problem like that whole paracetamol turning the effect off in some women.

Not to mention that it gives men more control over whether or not they want children which, especially given how batshit insane some women are, can only be a good thing.

This makes me want to post the vasectomy song. Oh, what the hell

My point is that now men have more means of protecting themselves than they previously had, and now have even less of an excuse (not that they had one before) for not being protected. That said, any man who won't wear a condom because he doesn't like how it feels is a dumbass. I guarantee you that sex with a condom is better than the lack of sex you'd be having without one. Also, while some people like myself hate the thought of having children, some guys do want them someday, and they shouldn't have to punish themselves by getting a vasectomy just because they cannot trust their mate to be reliable with birth control.

I think that birth control, like sex education, should be plentiful and free for all who need it. In the end, though, it is up to the people involved to be responsible enough to protect themselves, or be prepared to live with the consequences, be it an abortion and the aftermath of one, having a baby and putting it up for adoption, or keeping the kid and raising it. If you are not ready to deal with any (or indeed all) of those then you should be using a condom, or stick to beating off.
